Along-Strike Rapid Structural and Geomorphic Transition From Transpression to Strike-Slip to Transtension Related to Active Microplate Rotation, Papua New Guinea

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science, 2021
The area of southeastern Papua New Guinea includes three active microplates – the Trobriand, Woodlark, and Solomon Sea plates – that are being deformed by regional convergence between the much larger Pacific and Australian Plates.

Comprehensive method of assessing the flood threat of artificially drained mine subsidence areas for identification and sustainable repair of mining damage to the aquatic environment

open access: yesWater Resources and Industry, 2021
The effects of mining, apart from surface subsidences and deformations, are forced flows of surface and underground waters, lasting many decades in the mining areas.

One-Dimensional Consolidation Analysis Considering Non-Darcian Flow and Self-Weight Based on Continuous Drainage Boundary

open access: yesIOP Conference Series: Earth and Environmental Science, 2021
Abstract The one-dimensional consolidation problem of soft soil with self-weight and non-Darcian flow is studied by introducing continuous drainage boundary. A numerical solution is derived by using finite difference method and its correctness is proved by comparing with existing analytical and numerical solutions.

Inertial dynamics of air bubbles crossing a horizontal fluid–fluid interface [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The dynamics of isolated air bubbles crossing the horizontal interface separating two Newtonian immiscible liquids initially at rest are studied both experimentally and computationally.

Transient Flow Theory of Multiple-Fractured Horizontal Wells with Complex Mechanisms in Shale Gas Reservoirs

open access: yesGeofluids, 2020
Shale reservoirs have the characterizations of low porosity, low permeability, and hydrocarbon organic matter self-generation and self-storage, resulting in its complex flow mechanisms.

Development, testing and application of DrainFlow: A fully distributed integrated surface-subsurface flow model for drainage study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Hydrological and hydrogeological investigation of drained land is a complex and integrated procedure. The scale of drainage studies may vary from a high-resolution small scale project through to comprehensive catchment or regional scale investigations ...

Investigation of coalescence through film drainage modeling in chemical- and bioreactors with non-Newtonian continuous media [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
Denne masteroppgaven tar for seg dreneringen av en ikke-Newtonsk film innfanget mellom to fluidpartikler for å modellere koalesens i kjemiske reaktorer og bioreaktorer.

Meteorological controls on atmospheric particulate pollution during hazard reduction burns [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Chemistry and Physics, 2018
Internationally, severe wildfires are an escalating problem likely to worsen given projected changes to climate. Hazard reduction burns (HRBs) are used to suppress wildfire occurrences, but they generate considerable emissions of atmospheric fine ...

Low Impact Development construction of peak cluster depression based on regulation of epikarst zone

open access: yesCarsologica Sinica, 2022
Most of the bare karst areas environments with the widest distribution in southern China have peak cluster depression landforms. With high incidence of many environmental problems such as rocky desertification, flood, water shortage, and water pollution,
