Bolzano's continuous but nowhere differentiable function

open access: yes, 2011
Continuous function, no differentiable functions, limitBolzano discovered this continuous but nowhere differentiable function before 1831, but these investigations were not published until 1930. Weierstrass found an analogous function in 1875.

A function which is arc-analytic but not continuous

open access: yes, 1991
We construct an arc-analytic function (i.e., a function analytic on every real analytic arc) which is not continuous, as well as a continuous arc-analytic function which is not subanalytic.

Applications of δ Continuous Function

open access: yesWasit Journal for Pure Sciences
This paper introduces a new class of functions, termed δ-continuous functions, and investigates their fundamental characterizations and properties. Particular attention is given to their connections with other well-known classes of functions in topology

Continuity of monotone functions [PDF]

open access: yesPacific Journal of Mathematics, 1982
The author has obtained the following results for real functions on the closed unit interval in the style of \textit{E. A. Bishop's} ''Foundations of constructive analysis'' (1967): (Theorem 1) For nondecreasing f the following are equivalent, pointwise continuity, uniform continuity, f is antidecreasing \((f(x)

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...
