Benchmarking Coaxial and Angular Optical Emission Spectroscopy With Recommendations for Reliable Compositional In Situ Monitoring During Laser Powder Bed Fusion

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Real‐time insight into local chemistry is critical for reliable part quality in additive manufacturing, especially laser powder bed fusion (PBF‑LB/M), where rapid thermal cycles and localized evaporation can undermine part performance. Optical emission spectroscopy (OES) offers non‑intrusive, in situ plume monitoring, but detection geometry ...

Agar‐Based Optical Sensing System With a Phosphorescent Grid Pattern for Measuring Stress Distributions of Root Growth Using the Sampling Moiré Method

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This paper presents an agar medium with a phosphorescent grid pattern that measures the stress distribution generated by growing plant roots. Using phosphorescence, the system optically separates the grid pattern from the root and extracts the grid deformation.

An Imaging‐Guided, Patient‐Specific Guiding Aid (RWNGuide) for Safe and Reproducible Inner Ear Drug Delivery

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A patient‐specific, imaging‐guided aid enables precise and reproducible drug delivery to the inner ear. By guiding therapeutic agents directly to the round window niche, this approach reduces variability in drug localization, improves delivery safety, and addresses a critical bottleneck in inner ear therapy, offering a scalable strategy for precision ...

DISINTEGRATION OF BONE CEMENT BY CONTINUOUS AND PULSATING WATER JET

open access: yes, 2013
The paper deals with the study of using continuous water jet and ultrasonic pulsating water jet for bone cement disintegration. Bone-cement Pallacos R+G (manually mixed) was disintegrated ex-vivo. Mechanical properties of the bone cement were determined by nano-indentation.

COANDA SURFACE EFFECT ON THE SWEEPING JET ACTUATOR

open access: yesHavacılık ve Uzay Teknolojileri Dergisi, 2018
A sweeping jet (SWJ) actuator emits a continuous but spatially oscillating jet when pressurized with a fluid. In this study, unsteady flow fields generated by a SWJ actuator are investigated using two-dimensional, unsteady, Reynolds-Averaged Navier ...

Self-induced vibration of impinging synthetic jets

open access: yesJournal of Fluid Science and Technology
While numerous studies have examined self-induced vibrations in jets, the focus has predominantly been on continuous jets. Reports on self-induced vibrations in synthetic jets, which are characterized by their excited-vibration frequencies, are limited ...

A Direction‐Aware Piezo‐Transmittance Strain Sensor via Engineered Alignment of Carbon Nanotubes (CNTs)

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A direction‐aware piezo‐transmittance strain sensor is realized through the engineered alignment of carbon nanotubes. This anisotropic architecture instantaneously modulates optical transmittance, achieving ultra‐high sensitivity and exceptionally low hysteresis. By effectively eliminating signal crosstalk to precisely decouple multidirectional strains,

Coaxial Melt Electrowriting

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Coaxial melt electrowriting is established to produce dual‐property microfibers with diameters spanning 1.6–29.2 µm. Stable coaxial laminar flow is preserved under electrohydrodynamic thinning, enabling controlled binary and gradient material switching within individual continuous fibers.
