A mathematical model of train continuous motion uphill [PDF]

open access: yesTransport, 2008
The determination problem of adhesion coefficient of locomotives’ wheels with rails is described in this paper. The use of methods of mathematical statistics and theory of probability provides wider possibilities for determining the most acceptable ...

Testing continuous spontaneous localization model with charged macromolecules

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics
In the last decade, a growing interest has been devoted to models of spontaneous collapse of the wavefunction, known also as collapse models. They coherently solve the well-known quantum measurement problem by suitably modifying the Schrödinger evolution.

PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

A model of a pumped continuous atom laser

open access: yes, 2000
We present a model of a cw atom laser based on a system of coupled GP equations. The model incorporates continuous Raman outcoupling, pumping and three-body recombination.

Continuous quantum phase transition in a Kondo lattice model

open access: yes, 2003
We study the magnetic quantum phase transition in an anisotropic Kondo lattice model. The dynamical competition between the RKKY and Kondo interactions is treated using an extended dynamic mean field theory (EDMFT) appropriate for both the ...

Modelling continuous data [PDF]

open access: yesCanadian Medical Association Journal, 2005
Gilbert Welch and colleagues have written an interesting essay contrasting continuous and categorical approaches to modelling the relation between exposure and health effects.[1][1] They suggest that assuming a continuous relation between exposure and outcome may produce misleading results and ...

Recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming and confer resistance to targeted therapies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that the majority of the 18 analyzed recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming. The most potent mutations are activating, co‐operate with other ERBB receptors, and are sensitive to pan‐ERBB inhibitors. Activating ERBB4 mutations also promote therapy resistance in EGFR‐mutant lung cancer.
