Continuous Model-Driven Engineering

Computer, 2009
CMDE has been successfully applied in several industrial projects, including telecommunication services, supply-chain management, bioinformatics, logistics, and healthcare. In all these cases, agility at the customer, user, and application level proved key to aligning and linking business and IT.

Continuous majority-vote model

Physical Review E, 2005
We introduce a kinetic irreversible XY model and investigate its dynamic critical behavior through short-time Monte Carlo simulations on square lattices with periodic boundary conditions, starting from an ordered state. We find evidence that this system exhibits a Kosterlitz-Thouless-like phase for low values of the noise parameter.

Box-Jenkins Continuous-Time Modeling

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 2000
The authors consider continuous-time SISO systems where the parameters of the transfer function are to be identified from samples of input and output respectively. The output is disturbed by noise, the input signal is an arbitrary band-limited excitation.

Continuous-time Stochastic Models

1987
Models in which agents can revise their decisions continuously in time have proved fruitful in the analysis of economic problems involving intertemporal choice under uncertainty (cf. Malliaris and Brock, 1982). These models frequently produce significantly sharper results than can be derived from their discrete-time counterparts.

Hybrid hidden Markov model for mixed continuous/continuous and discrete/continuous data modeling

2015 IEEE 17th International Workshop on Multimedia Signal Processing (MMSP), 2015
We propose a hybrid hidden Markov model (HMM) for mixed continuous/continuous and discrete/continuous outcomes. The Expectation-Maximization (EM) procedure used for the parameters estimation relies on a combination of local and global quantities that relate to outcomes of a specific type and to all outcomes, respectively.

Continuous-space occupancy models

Biometrics
ABSTRACT Occupancy models are used to infer species distributions over large spatial extents while accounting for imperfect detection. Current approaches, however, are unable to model species occurrence over continuous spatial domains while accounting for the discrete spatial domain of the observed data. We develop a new class of spatial

DISCRETE AND CONTINUOUS MODELS

International Journal of General Systems, 1978
M. E. Van Valkenburg writes in the foreword to Steiglitz’s Introduction to Discrete Systems,1 that “Given the widespread availability of computers, there seems little doubt that the teaching of electrical engineering should undergo an evolution ...

Discrete models/continuous models

Omega, 1986
Abstract Continuous approximations are useful in formulating models that humans can comprehend. Discrete approximations are useful in formulating models that computers can “comprehend”. Applications of discrete and continuous approximations are illustrated with examples.
