Universal Nonlinear Filtering Using Feynman Path Integrals II: The Continuous-Continuous Model with Additive Noise

open access: yes, 2007
In this paper, the Feynman path integral formulation of the continuous-continuous filtering problem, a fundamental problem of applied science, is investigated for the case when the noise in the signal and measurement model is additive.

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

The Continuous Orbifold of N=2 Minimal Model Holography

open access: yes, 2014
For the N=2 Kazama-Suzuki models that appear in the duality with a higher spin theory on AdS_3 it is shown that the large level limit can be interpreted as a continuous orbifold of 2N free bosons and fermions by the group U(N).

Mathematical Formulation of an Optimal Execution Problem with Uncertain Market Impact [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We study an optimal execution problem with uncertain market impact to derive a more realistic market model. We construct a discrete-time model as a value function for optimal execution.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Developing a Forensic Continuous Audit Model

open access: yesJournal of Digital Forensics, Security and Law, 2011
Despite increased attention to internal controls and risk assessment, traditional audit approaches do not seem to be highly effective in uncovering the majority of frauds.

A continuous model of transportation revisited

open access: yes, 2013
We review two models of optimal transport, where congestion effects during the transport can be possibly taken into account. The first model is Beckmann's one, where the transport activities are modeled by vector fields with given divergence.

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Formalising the Continuous/Discrete Modeling Step

open access: yes, 2011
Formally capturing the transition from a continuous model to a discrete model is investigated using model based refinement techniques. A very simple model for stopping (eg. of a train) is developed in both the continuous and discrete domains.
