Stein's method for comparison of univariate distributions [PDF]
We propose a new general version of Stein's method for univariate distributions. In particular we propose a canonical definition of the Stein operator of a probability distribution which is based on a linear difference or differential-type operator.

A new monotonicity, M-monotonicity, is introduced, and the resolvant operator of an M-monotone operator is proved to be single-valued and Lipschitz continuous.

Boundary integral equations on unbounded rough surfaces: Fredholmness and the finite section method [PDF]
We consider a class of boundary integral equations that arise in the study of strongly elliptic BVPs in unbounded domains of the form $D = \{(x, z)\in \mathbb{R}^{n+1} : x\in \mathbb{R}^n, z > f(x)\}$ where $f : \mathbb{R}^n \to\mathbb{R}$ is a ...

Derivation and Analysis of the Primal-Dual Method of Multipliers Based on Monotone Operator Theory [PDF]
In this paper, we present a novel derivation of an existing algorithm for distributed optimization termed the primal-dual method of multipliers (PDMM).

Existence of solution to an evolution equation and a justification of the DSM for equations with monotone operators [PDF]
An evolution equation, arising in the study of the Dynamical Systems Method (DSM) for solving equations with monotone operators, is studied in this paper.

ON THE METHOD FOR RECONSTRUCTING THE BOUNDARY CONDITION FOR PARABOLIC LINEAR EQUATIONS
Background. A problem of determination of unknown boundary condition often appears in different fields of physics and technical sciences in cases when direct measuring of field characteristics at some part of the boundary is difficult or even ...

Recursive Delta-Operator-Based Subspace Identification with Fixed Data Size
This paper proposes a recursive delta-operator-based subspace identification method with fixed data size. The majority of existing subspace identification methods are constrained to discrete-time systems because of the disparity in Hankel matrices ...

Continuous $ k $-Frames and their Dual in Hilbert Spaces [PDF]
The notion of $k$-frames was recently introduced by G\u avru\c ta in Hilbert spaces to study atomic systems with respect to a bounded linear operator. A continuous frame is a family of vectors in a Hilbert space which allows reproductions of arbitrary ...

The mathematical characteristic of the fifth order Laplace contour filters used in digital image processing [PDF]
The Laplace operator is a differential operator which is used to detect edges of objects in digital images. This paper presents the properties of the most commonly used fifth-order pixels Laplace filters including the difference schemes used to derive ...
