Continuous-Variable Measurement-Device-Independent Quantum Key Distribution in the Terahertz Band

open access: yesPhotonics
We have introduced, for the first time, a protocol for Continuous-Variable Measurement-Device-Independent Quantum Key Distribution (CV-MDI-QKD) in the terahertz (THz) frequency band. We have conducted a secret key rate analysis against collective attacks.

Continuous variable encoding by ponderomotive interaction

open access: yes, 2005
Recently it has been proposed to construct quantum error-correcting codes that embed a finite-dimensional Hilbert space in the infinite-dimensional Hilbert space of a system described by continuous quantum variables [D. Gottesman et al., Phys. Rev. A 64,

Unitary Gate Synthesis for Continuous Variable Systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
We investigate the synthesis of continuous-variable two-mode unitary gates in the setting where two modes A and B are coupled by a fixed quadratic Hamiltonian H.

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

A Population-Based Search Approach to Solve Continuous Distributed Constraint Optimization Problems

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Distributed Constraint Optimization Problems (DCOPs) are an efficient framework widely used in multi-agent collaborative modeling. The traditional DCOP framework assumes that variables are discrete and constraint utilities are represented in tabular ...

Quantifying decoherence in continuous variable systems

open access: yes, 2005
We present a detailed report on the decoherence of quantum states of continuous variable systems under the action of a quantum optical master equation resulting from the interaction with general Gaussian uncorrelated environments. The rate of decoherence

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Continuous-variable tomography of solitary electrons

open access: yesNature Communications, 2019
Quantum tomographic techniques enable the complete characterisation of continuous variable quantum states. Here the authors demonstrate a broadband tomography protocol for single electrons that goes beyond the bandwidth restrictions of existing methods.

On exchangeable continuous variable systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
We investigate permutation-invariant continuous variable quantum states and their covariance matrices. We provide a complete characterization of the latter with respect to permutation invariance and exchangeability and representing convex combinations of
