Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Bound states in the continuum in anisotropic plasmonic metasurfaces.

open access: yesNano letters (Print), 2020
The concept of optical bound states in the continuum (BICs) currently drives the field of dielectric resonant nanophotonics, providing an important physical mechanism for engineering high-quality (high-Q) optical resonances in high-index dielectric ...

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

A discrete approach to continuum economies [PDF]

open access: yes, 1991
We consider a perfectly competitive economy in which only a finite number of different agents' characteristics can be distinguished. We associate this economy with an n-agents' economy with an ordered Banach commodity space, and we prove that the ...

Quelques emprunts du gallo au breton

open access: yesLa Bretagne Linguistique, 1985
We would like to draw from the lexemes that Welsh has borrowed from Breton an image of the relationships maintained throughout history by the two linguistic communities between which Brittany is divided.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Numerical simulation of continuum generation in a multimode nonlinear waveguide

open access: yes, 2007
Continuum generation in large multimode nonlinear waveguides offers the exciting prospect of a new generation of compact, integrated, and high-power broadband light sources. Recently a novel technique based on Scanning Near-field Optical Microscopy (SNOM)

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...
