Lowe Keypoints, Maximal Nucleus Clusters, Contours and Shapes

2017
This chapter carries forward the use of Voronoi meshes superimposed on digital images as a means revealing image geometry and the shapes that result from contour lines surrounding maximal nucleus clusters (MNCs) in a mesh.

A New Approach for Environmental Contour and Multivariate De-Clustering

Volume 3: Structures, Safety, and Reliability, 2019
Abstract When the long term behaviour of a floating unit is assessed, the environmental contour concept is often applied together with IFORM (Inverse First Order Reliability Method). This approach avoids direct computation on all sea-states, which is computationally very demanding, and most often simply not feasible.

Identifying Concatenation Discontinuities by Hierarchical Divisive Clustering of Pitch Contours

2011
In this paper, we present the results of a clustering experiment, the aim of which was to show whether or not the proximity of pitch contours is sufficient condition for perceptually smooth transitions at concatenation points in concatenative speech synthesis.

Contour extraction by mixture density description obtained from region clustering

1992
This paper describes a contour extraction scheme which refines a roughly estimated initial contour to outline a precise object boundary. In our approach, mixture density descriptions, which are parametric descriptions of decomposed sub-regions, are obtained from region clustering. Using these descriptions, likelihoods that a pixel belongs to the object

A linked cluster evaluation of contour integrals in statistical mechanics

Journal of Mathematical Physics, 1973
A linked cluster expansion is obtained for the logarithm of the partition function which constitutes an asymptotic expansion in 1/N for a normal system. The result is obtained by means of a new and rather general way of asymptotically evaluating a type of integral common in statistical mechanics.
