Reconstruction of Contour Lines for Digitization of Contour Map

2021
Contour map has contour lines that are significant in building a digital elevation model (DEM). During the digitization and preprocessing of contour maps, the contour line intersects with each other or breaks apart resulting in broken contour segments. These broken segments impose a greater risk while building DEM leading to a faulty model.

Illusory Contours and the Ends of Lines [PDF]

open access: possiblePerception, 1978
A series of lines pointing towards a central region induces an illusory brightness effect that is systematically related to the angle formed by the lines and the contour of the illusory brightness. As the lines veer to become tangents the illusory brightness decreases.

A Novel Text Line Segmentation Method Based on Contour Curve Tracking for Tibetan Historical Documents

International journal of pattern recognition and artificial intelligence, 2018
In this paper, we proposed a novel method for text line segmentation of Tibetan historical document image with uchen script based on contour tracking. Our method is mainly to segment the text lines from the image documents using the contour curve of the ...

An Experiment with Contour Lines

The Cartographic Journal, 1979
AbstractMap readers are generally faster and more accurate in interpreting relief from layer tint maps than from contour maps. This paper discusses methods of improving contour maps and reports an experiment where conventional contours were compared with contour lines elaborated to produce a 'wedding cake' effect, but this elaboration did not improve ...

Sign determination of contour lines

Optics Communications, 1975
Abstract With the usual techniques of contour lining no distinction is possible between elevations and depressions. This distinction is obtainable if two adjacent reference planes are used. The generation and exploitation of two adjacent contour line systems are described and discussed.

Application of the Contour Line Method for Estimating Extreme Responses in the Mooring Lines of a Two-Body Floating Wave Energy Converter

, 2013
The ultimate limit state (ULS) is one of the design criteria used in the oil and gas industry in mooring system design for floating platforms. The 100 year level response in the mooring line should be applied for the ULS design check, which is ideally ...

Contour Error Coupled-Control Strategy based on Line Interpolation and Curve Interpolation

Journal of Computers, 2013
In practical machining, the multi-axis actual dynamic performances don’t match well, which reduces the profile precision greatly. The computer numerical control (CNC) machine tools contour error coupled-control strategy based on line interpolation and ...

Line endings and subjective contours

Spatial Vision, 1988
Subjective forms depend exquisitely on the shapes of the termini of the bars acting as inducers. In particular, they follow small stretches of contour at the termini. Subjective brightness effects without precise boundaries are generated when the termini are pointed.

The drainage network extraction from contour lines for contour line generalization

ISPRS Journal of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing, 2007
Abstract Unlike the simplification of independent line features, the generalization of terrain contour is to handle the “line group", which describes the geomorphologic characteristics, such as the terrain valley and ridge. In decision level, the real operation object in the terrain generalization is not the line segment itself but the drainage ...

Contour tracking via on-line discriminative active contours

2014 IEEE International Conference on Image Processing (ICIP), 2014
This paper presents a novel on-line AdaBoost based discriminative active contour tracking framework (ADACT) using level sets. First we build an on-line AdaBoost based appearance model to track and extract the rough target region, which provides important discriminative clues for our active contour model.
