Simultaneous Generation of Topographic Models and Manning Roughness Coefficient Maps From Tri‐Stereoscopic Satellite Images: Application to the Huarmey River, Peru

open access: yesThe Photogrammetric Record, Volume 41, Issue 195, July‐September 2026.
Tri‐stereoscopic PeruSat‐1 imagery enables the simultaneous generation of 0.70 m‐resolution topography and spatially distributed Manning roughness maps, achieving 0.434 m vertical accuracy. Integrated into HEC‐RAS, these products provide consistent, high‐resolution inputs that improve hydraulic modelling and flood risk assessment in data‐scarce river ...

The Contribution of Entomological Surveillance to the Control of Chagas Disease in Endemic Regions: An Integrative Literature Review

open access: yesTropical Medicine &International Health, Volume 31, Issue 7, Page 832-842, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Chagas disease remains a significant public health challenge in various endemic regions of Latin America. The persistence of vector‐borne transmission highlights the complexity of the issue and the limitations of traditional strategies. In this context, entomological surveillance plays a strategic and multifaceted role, not only in the early ...

Effects of selective harvest on antler size of white‐tailed deer in Texas, USA

open access: yesWildlife Monographs, Volume 222, Issue 1, June 2026.
We conducted 20 years of experiments on the selective harvest of white‐tailed deer by antler size, judged inferior, in 2 areas of South Texas, USA. Selective harvest increased the phenotypic antler size of older males in one study area but not the other. There was little evidence of evolution resulting from selective harvesting. Abstract There has been

Potential of the Predatory Mites Gamasellodes lavafesii (Mesostigmata: Ascidae) and Cosmolaelaps mediocuspis (Mesostigmata: Laelapidae) on Different Soil Pests/Parasites and Alternative Prey for Large‐Scale Rearing

open access: yesJournal of Applied Entomology, Volume 150, Issue 5, Page 562-572, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Many species of Mesostigmata soil mites have potential as biological control agents of pests/parasites. This study evaluated the predation potential of two of these species, Gamasellodes lavafesii (Ascidae) and Cosmolaelaps mediocuspis (Laelapidae).

Sugar provisioning increases parasitoid numbers in agroecosystems but may not reduce pest densities: A meta‐analysis

open access: yesJournal of Applied Ecology, Volume 63, Issue 5, May 2026.
Our findings demonstrate that providing sugar sources reliably supports parasitoid populations and parasitism rate but does not systematically translate into improved pest suppression or yield gains. These results suggest that, for economic and practical reasons, sugar inputs at the edge of cultivated fields should be favoured.

Effects of Warming on Growth and Leaf Colonization by Litter Mat‐Forming Fungi in a Wet Tropical Forest in Puerto Rico

open access: yesBiotropica, Volume 58, Issue 3, May 2026.
We took advantage of a long‐running field warming experiment, the Tropical Responses to Altered Climate Experiment (TRACE) located in the Luquillo Experimental Forest in Puerto Rico to evaluate the effects of +4°C warming on relative growth rates (RGR) and time to leaf colonization of a recently senesced leaf for drought‐tolerant species Marasmius ...
