Prophylactic Left Atrial Appendage Occlusion During Mitral Valve Repair in Patients Without Atral Fibrillation: A Meta‐Analysis of Time to Event Data

In patients without atrial fibrillation undergoing mitral valve repair, prophylactic left atrial appendage occlusion significantly reduces long‐term thromboembolic events and early in‐hospital stroke, without increasing mortality, although it is associated with a higher incidence of postoperative atrial fibrillation.

Copper intravas device (IVD) and male contraception

Contraception, 1984
An alternative method of male contraception is crucial at this stage of increasing population in the developing world. A non-obstructive, non-hormonal, reversible method of male contraception would find acceptance in oriental communities. Our experience with copper IVD in small animals has been encouraging.
