A Bibliometric Analysis of Publications in Uremic Toxins From 1991 to 2024
ABSTRACT Background Uremic toxins are a growing area of research in nephrology, with significant implications in the progression and treatment of chronic kidney disease (CKD) and the management of end‐stage kidney disease (ESKD). This bibliometric analysis aims to evaluate the global research trends, key contributors, and the impact of publications in ...

Somatostatin receptors 3 and 5 potentiate cholinergic-nerve-mediated contraction in human bronchus
AimThe role of somatostatin (SST) in the modulation of cholinergic neurotransmission has not been explored previously in human bronchi. We investigated the effects of SST, selective agonists of the five SST receptors SSTR, and octreotide (a SSTR2,3,5 ...

Visualization of metabolite change in skeletal muscle by contraction using imaging mass spectrometry
Matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization imaging mass spectrometry (MALDI-IMS) is a mass spectrometry-based imaging technique used to visualize the distribution of biomolecules without the need for extraction, purification, separation and labeling of ...

Postjunctional M2Rs on airway smooth muscle (ASM) outnumber M3Rs by a ratio of 4:1 in most species, however, it is the M3Rs that are thought to mediate the bronchoconstrictor effects of acetylcholine.

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.
