ABSTRACT Dielectric barrier discharge ionization (DBDI) sources, employing low‐temperature plasma, have emerged as sensitive and efficient ionization tools with various atmospheric pressure ionization processes. In this review, we summarize a historical overview of the development of DBDI, highlighting key principles of gas‐phase ion chemistry and the ...

Oral English Proficiency Tests, Interpretive Labor, and the Neoliberal University
Tests of English proficiency for international graduate students at US universities are neoliberal institutions which make (mis)communication the responsibility of individual workers. While cloaking themselves in a discourse of linguistic expertise, they require test‐takers to assimilate to white, upper class, American mannerisms.

Investigating Structure and Agency in Chinese Indonesians' Identity Work
Research shows that structure and agency are components of both micro and macro articulations of identity (Bucholtz and Hall, 2005). However, some scholars (e.g., Block 2013, 2015; Sealey and Carter 2004; Gao 2017) argue that structure and agency often receive unequal attention, with many studies focusing more on agency when examining identity work ...

Adequacy of contract grammars for component certification
The use of contracts in component-based development is a well-established approach. However there exists a wide range of views as to the nature of the contracts that are necessary to support safety-critical systems development, assurance and certification.

ABSTRACT A large part of data science projects is spent on data engineering. Especially in open data contexts, data quality issues are prevalent and are often tackled by non‐professional programmers. We introduce and evaluate Jayvee, a domain‐specific language for data engineering aimed at reducing barriers to building data pipelines.

Background Mining logic rules from structured knowledge bases is the basis of knowledge engineering. Due to the NP‐hardness of the rule mining problem, logic rules cannot be efficiently induced from knowledge bases, especially large‐scale ones.

LexGram - a practical categorial grammar formalism - [PDF]
We present the LexGram system, an amalgam of (Lambek) categorial grammar and Head Driven Phrase Structure Grammar (HPSG), and show that the grammar formalism it implements is a well-structured and useful tool for actual grammar development.

Hypergraph Lambek Calculus [PDF]
It is known that context-free grammars can be extended to generating graphs resulting in graph grammars; one of such fundamental approaches is hyperedge replacement grammars. On the other hand there are type-logical grammars which also serve to describe string languages. In this paper, we investigate how to extend the Lambek calculus ($\mathrm{L}$) and

Abstract This paper presents a novel approach to predict the ultimate load of slender circular concrete‐filled double skin tubular (CFDST) columns subjected to concentric and eccentric loading. The proposed approach was developed using a multilinear regression model through analyzing a database containing 165 CFDST column configurations.

Basic Classes of Grammars with Prohibition [PDF]
A practical tool for natural language modeling and development of human-machine interaction is developed in the context of formal grammars and languages. A new type of formal grammars, called grammars with prohibition, is introduced. Grammars with prohibition provide more powerful tools for natural language generation and better describe processes of ...
