Recurrent Hypothermia and Autonomic Dysfunction Secondary to Shapiro Syndrome
ABSTRACT A 44‐year‐old man presented with recurrent hypothermia, diaphoresis and hypertension. Extensive investigation for infectious, inflammatory, metabolic and endocrine aetiologies was negative. MR scan of the brain demonstrated no lesions but revealed callosal dysgenesis, consistent with Shapiro syndrome.

Summary The operation for Dupuytren contracture by means of a radical block excision of the palmar fascia is described in some detail. A method of post-operative immobilisation of the hand by plaster slabs is recommended with a view to minimising the incidence of the main complications of h˦matoma, œdema, and delayed healing of the palm.
