Investigative Radiology, 1983
The commonly used contrast medium metrizoate (Isopaque Cerebral) or the new nonionic iohexol were injected intravenously for enhancement of cranial CT in a randomized double blind study. Each group consisted of 105 patients. No serious reactions occurred.

Contrast-enhanced CT studies are highly diagnostic and involve little physiological stress. To obtain the best results, protocols for contrast enhancement must take into consideration the patient factors, CM factors, and scan factors for contrast enhancement.

Contrast-enhanced CT findings of intravenous leiomyomatosis
Clinical Radiology, 2018To characterise the contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CT) imaging findings of nine patients with intravenous leiomyomatosis (IVL).The contrast-enhanced CT imaging findings of nine patients with histopathologically proven IVL were examined. The location, morphology, extension pathway, adhesion, and degree and pattern of enhancement of the tumour ...

Preparative Fasting for Contrast-enhanced CT: Reconsideration
Radiology, 2012To evaluate the evidence on the value of preparative fluid fasting for patients undergoing elective computed tomography (CT) with intravenous administration of contrast material and to survey leading institutions in a number of countries on their current policies in this regard. This study qualified for exempt status by the institutional review board ...

Multi-slice CT contrast enhancement regimens
Clinical Radiology, 2004Historically, the development of progressively faster Computed Tomography (CT) technology has dictated a recurrent need to re-examine intravenous contrast agent enhancement regimens. The most recently introduced development, the very fast, multi-slice helical/spiral systems, have raised the same issue yet again.

Calcium Scoring and Contrast-Enhanced CT Angiography
Current Molecular Medicine, 2006Computed tomography (CT) technology has emerged as the most promising imaging modality for the noninvasive evaluation of the coronary circulation. Of the CT-based approaches, multidetector-row computed tomography (MDCT) and to a lesser extent electron beam computed tomography offer the potential of providing not only data on the spatial extent and ...

Contrast-enhanced MRI versus myelography and contrast-enhanced CT in postdiskectomy problems
European Spine Journal, 1992The differentiation between scar tissue and disk herniation is essential in postdiskectomy problems of the lumbar spine, since reoperation on scar tissue alone is often unfavourable. Epidural scar is a vascularized tissue, and enhancement can be seen after intravenous contrast injection, allowing differentiation from avascular disk material.

Although CT is one of major diagnostic imaging methods, the role of CT in the detection and diagnosis of early carcinomas depends on the organ and character of the tumors. Because difference in attenuation between lung parenchyma and carcinomas is large, contrast enhanced CT is not effective to diagnose early lung carcinoma.

The feasibility of contrast-enhanced spectral mammography immediately after contrast-enhanced CT
Radiological Physics and Technology, 2019Contrast-enhanced spectral mammography (CESM) is a digital mammography method that requires an intravenous injection of iodinated contrast material to detect hypervascular lesions. In patients undergoing evaluation for metastases before breast tumor surgery, a contrast material must be injected for computed tomography (CT) and CESM studies. The purpose

Cholangiocarcinoma: delayed CT contrast enhancement patterns.
Radiology, 1997To determine the usefulness of delayed post-equilibrium-phase contrast material-enhanced images in evaluation of intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma.Review of surgical, pathologic, and radiologic records revealed 47 patients with proved cholangiocarcinoma with delayed (6-36 minutes) post-equilibrium-phase contrast-enhanced computed tomographic (CT) scans ...
