Transabdominal Contrast-Enhanced Ultrasonography of Pancreatic Cancer [PDF]

open access: yesPancreatology, 2011
Since its introduction, contrast-enhanced ultrasonography (CEUS) has significantly extended the value of ultrasonography (US). CEUS can be used to more accurately determine pancreatic lesions compared to conventional US or to characterize lesions already detectable by US. Thus, CEUS can aid in the differential diagnosis of pancreatic tumors.

Use of magnetic resonance angiography to select candidates with recently symptomatic carotid stenosis for surgery: systematic review [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Objective To determine if sufficient evidence exists to support the use of magnetic resonance angiography as a means of selecting patients with recently symptomatic high grade carotid stenosis for surgery.

B-Mode Ultrasonography versus Contrast-Enhanced Ultrasonography for Surveillance of Hepatocellular Carcinoma: A Prospective Multicenter Randomized Controlled Trial

open access: yesLiver Cancer, 2019
Background: Current practice guidelines recommend the use of ultrasound (US) as an initial surveillance tool for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in patients with liver cirrhosis.

Contrast-enhanced ultrasound of hepatocellular carcinoma: where do we stand? [PDF]

open access: yesUltrasonography, 2019
Contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) represents a significant breakthrough in ultrasonography (US), and it is being increasingly used for the evaluation of focal liver lesions (FLLs).

Characterization of focal liver lesions using sulphur hexafluoride (SF6) microbubble contrast-enhanced ultrasonography

open access: yesThe Egyptian Journal of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine, 2021
Background Focal hepatic lesions incidentally detected during ultrasound usually need further step for proper characterization. The aim of this study was to highlight the efficacy of microbubble contrast-enhanced ultrasonography (CEUS) in ...

Circulating tumor cells: advancing personalized therapy in small cell lung cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Small cell lung cancer (SCLC) is an aggressive form of lung cancer that spreads rapidly to secondary sites such as the brain and liver. Cancer cells circulating in the blood, “circulating tumor cells” (CTCs), have demonstrated prognostic value in SCLC, and evaluating biomarkers on CTCs could guide treatment decisions such as for PARP inhibitors ...

KRAS and GNAS mutations in cell‐free DNA and in circulating epithelial cells in patients with intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasms—an observational pilot study

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that KRAS and GNAS mutations are more prevalent in patients with resected intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasms (IPMN) compared to those under clinical surveillance. GNAS mutations significantly differ between the two patient cohorts, indicating that their absence may serve as a potential biomarker to support conservative ...

Clinically Useful Diagnostic Tool of Contrast Enhanced Ultrasonography for Focal Liver Masses: Comparison to Computed Tomography and Magnetic Resonance Imaging

open access: yesGut and Liver, 2014
Background/AimsTo evaluate the diagnostic value of contrast (SonoVue?) enhancement ultrasonography (CEUS) and to compare this method with computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in evaluating liver masses. Methods : CEUS (n=50), CT ...
