Ruling Out to Rule In: Contrastive Hypothesis Retrieval for Medical Question Answering
Retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) grounds large language models in external medical knowledge, yet standard retrievers frequently surface hard negatives that are semantically close to the query but describe clinically distinct conditions. While existing query-expansion methods improve query representation to mitigate ambiguity, they typically focus ...

Loss of proton‐sensing TDAG8 increases tumor progression in mouse models of colon cancer
Loss of the pH‐sensing receptor TDAG8 accelerates colorectal cancer progression in mice. Animals lacking TDAG8 expression had increased tumor growth, DNA damage, and recruitment of tumor‐associated immune cells, including macrophages, neutrophils, and monocytes.

Breast cancer remains a major cause of cancer death in women, frequently developing endocrine therapy resistance. This study demonstrates that upregulated p21‐activated kinase 1 (PAK1) activity drives resistance to tamoxifen and long‐term estrogen deprivation in ER+ breast cancer models.

The proposed mechanism of action for the CDK12/13 inhibitor and cyclin K degrader, CT7439. CDK12/13 inhibition interrupts transcription elongation, leading to increased DNA damage that results in cell death. This agent is a potentially novel treatment option for patients with colorectal cancer. Created in BioRender. Cyclin‐dependent kinase (CDK) 12 and

Drug resistance limits treatment success in a subset of lung cancers driven by ROS1 gene alterations. Using patient‐derived cells and computer simulations, we studied three key mutations and how they affect five targeted drugs. The mutations reduced drug effectiveness in different ways by altering protein structure and behavior.

Detecting circulating tumor cells (CTCs) in blood before surgery may help predict outcomes in patients with head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC). Here, we show when combined with tumor size and lymph node involvement from routine imaging, CTC status identifies high‐risk patients with poorer survival—offering a simple, minimally invasive tool ...

An evolutionary view of the Fusarium core genome
Fusarium, a member of the Ascomycota fungi, encompasses several pathogenic species significant to plants and animals. Some phytopathogenic species have received special attention due to their negative economic impact on the agricultural industry around ...

This study investigated a novel WST‐8‐based assay for evaluating d‐Amino acid oxidase (DAO) inhibitors. We confirmed its effectiveness using known inhibitors and found that uremic toxins possess relatively weak inhibitory activity compared to existing drugs.

This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.
