Contingency learning tracks with stimulus-response proportion no evidence of misprediction costs [PDF]
We investigate the processes involved in human contingency learning using the color-word contingency learning paradigm. In this task, participants respond to the print color of neutral words. Each word is frequently presented in one color.

Social context prevents heat hormetic effects against mutagens during fish development
This study shows that sublethal heat stress protects fish embryos against ultraviolet radiation, a concept known as ‘hormesis’. However, chemical stress transmission between fish embryos negates this protective effect. By providing evidence for the mechanistic molecular basis of heat stress hormesis and interindividual stress communication, this study ...

A novel contrast-induced acute kidney injury mouse model based on low-osmolar contrast medium
The contrast-induced acute kidney injury (CI-AKI) has been becoming the third common cause of hospital-acquired acute kidney injury. An ideal animal model is essential for understanding the pathophysiology of CI-AKI.

Dissociation of quarkonium in hot QCD medium: Modification of the inter-quark potential [PDF]
We have studied the dissociation of heavy quarkonium states in a hot QCD medium by investigating the medium modifications to a heavy quark potential. Our model shows that in-medium modification causes the screening of the charge in contrast to the screening of the range of the potential.

miRNA‐29 regulates epidermal and mesenchymal functions in skin repair
miRNA‐29 inhibits cell‐to‐cell and cell‐to‐matrix adhesion by silencing mRNA targets. Adhesion is controlled by complex interactions between many types of molecules coded by mRNAs. This is crucial for keeping together the layers of the skin and for regenerating the skin after wounding.

Neutron Properties in the Medium [PDF]
We demonstrate that for small values of momentum transfer, Q^2, the in-medium change of the G_E/G_M form factor ratio for a bound neutron is dominated by the change in the electric charge radius and predict in a model independent manner that the in-medium ratio will increase relative to the free result.

Dynamical Casimir effect in oscillating media
We show that oscillations of a homogeneous medium with constant material coefficients produce pairs of photons. Classical analysis of an oscillating medium reveals regions of parametric resonance where the electromagnetic waves are exponentially ...
