Photopic contrast sensitivity without foveal vision

Optics Letters, 1978
Sine-wave contrast sensitivity is greatly reduced when the subject is prevented from using his fovea by a stabilized obscuration. For example, with a 3° obscuring stripe, his sensitivity is one third of normal. However, the foveal-deprivation effect seems to be independent of the spatial frequency of the stimulus, which provides an important constraint

[Contrast sensitivity and vision].

Ceskoslovenska oftalmologie, 1993
From results of the contrast sensitivity test (n = 65, r = 0.834) it is possible to estimate visual acuity with considerable provedes, however, in addition also information on vision at low contrast conditions and on vision of large objects. It may therefore be expected that in future the two-dimensional visuogram will replace in clinical practice the ...

Near vision contrast sensitivity after photorefractive keratectomy

Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, 1997
To evaluate near vision contrast sensitivity as a measure of visual performance after photorefractive keratectomy (PRK).LSU Eye Center, New Orleans, Louisiana.Using Holladay Contrast Acuity Test cards, near (reading) vision for five levels of contrast sensitivity was evaluated in a cross section of 53 eyes of 31 patients 25 to 732 days after PRK ...

The future UN development agenda: contrasting visions, contrasting operations

Third World Quarterly, 2014
‘Sustainable development’ – as currently and politically correctly formulated – provides an inappropriate basis on which to frame a future-oriented UN agenda, and risks perpetuating patterns of assistance in which most UN organisations perform poorly and in the shadow of alternative and more able multilateral and bilateral sources. UN operations should

One Site—Multiple Visions: Visioneering Between Contrasting Actors’ Perspectives

NanoEthics, 2017
Visions of and narratives about the future energy system influence the actual creation of innovations and are thus accompanying the current energy transition. A New Contrast Sensitivity Vision Test Chart

Optometry and Vision Science, 1984
A new contrast sensitivity vision chart has been tested and compared to an automated video-based vision tester on 83 observers whose ages ranged from 9 to 75 years. Good agreement was found between the contrast sensitivity measurements obtained from the vision chart and the automated tester for similar population and age variations.
