The CDK12-BRCA1 signaling axis mediates dinaciclib-associated radiosensitivity through p53-mediated cellular senescence. [PDF]

open access: yesMol Oncol
Dinaciclib blocks CDK12 activity, leading to downregulation of BRCA1, and probably other proteins involved in homologous recombination, promoting nonhomologous end joining. In this scenario, the presence of ionising radiation triggers a p53‐dependent senescent response that yields increased radiosensitivity. Pan‐cyclin‐dependent‐kinase (CDK) inhibitors

Volcanic Early Warning Using Shannon Entropy: Multiple Cases of Study

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, Volume 128, Issue 6, June 2023., 2023
Abstract The search for pre‐eruptive observables that can be used for short‐term volcanic forecast remains a scientific challenge. Pre‐eruptive patterns in seismic data are usually identified by analyzing seismic catalogs (e.g., the number and types of recorded seismic events), the evolution of seismic energy, or changes in the tensional state of the ...

Melatonin drives apoptosis in head and neck cancer by increasing mitochondrial ROS generated via reverse electron transport

open access: yesJournal of Pineal Research, Volume 73, Issue 3, October 2022., 2022
Abstract The oncostatic effects of melatonin correlate with increased reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels, but how melatonin induces this ROS generation is unknown. In the present study, we aimed to elucidate the two seemingly opposing actions of melatonin regarding its relationship with free radicals.
