We introduce a new setting where a population of agents, each modelled by a finite-state system, are controlled uniformly: the controller applies the same action to every agent. The framework is largely inspired by the control of a biological system, namely a population of yeasts, where the controller may only change the environment common to all cells.

Glucontrol, no control, or out of control? [PDF]
Sir: Preiser et al. [1] are to be congratulated on their randomized controlled multi-center trial on tight glycemic control (TGC) in critically ill patients. This trial adds to our knowledge of glucose control in intensive care units, but also poses a fascinating dilemma. While we need confirmation of the effects of TGC observed in Leuven, we notice at

The dual nature of TDC – bridging dendritic and T cells in immunity
TDC are hematopoietic cells combining dendritic and T cell features. They reach secondary lymphoid organs (SLOs) and peripheral organs (liver and lungs) after FLT3‐dependent development in the bone marrow and maturation in the thymus. TDC are activated and enriched in SLOs upon viral infection, suggesting that they might play unique immune roles, since

Determination of dynamic flexure model parameters for ship angular deformation measurement [PDF]
In ship angular deformation measurement, Kalman filter used to estimate the deformation angle requires accurate dynamic flexure parameters. Traditionally, these dynamic flexure parameters are empirically set according to previous experience or determined

In vivo IL‐10 produced by tissue‐resident tolDC is involved in maintaining/inducing tolerance. Depending on the agent used for ex vivo tolDC generation, cells acquire common features but prime T cells towards anergy, FOXP3+ Tregs, or Tr1 cells according to the levels of IL‐10 produced. Ex vivo‐induced tolDC were administered to patients to re‐establish/

FoxO1 signaling in B cell malignancies and its therapeutic targeting
FoxO1 has context‐specific tumor suppressor or oncogenic character in myeloid and B cell malignancies. This includes tumor‐promoting properties such as stemness maintenance and DNA damage tolerance in acute leukemias, or regulation of cell proliferation and survival, or migration in mature B cell malignancies.

Optimal Dispatch of Pumped Storage Hydro Cascade under Uncertainty [PDF]
In this paper, we propose an optimal dispatch scheme for a pumped storage hydro cascade that maximizes the energy per cubic meter of water in the system taking into account uncertainty in the net load variations.

Safety-Critical Lane-Change Control for CAV Platoons in Mixed Autonomy Traffic Using Control Barrier Functions [PDF]
Platooning can serve as an effective management measure for connected and autonomous vehicles (CAVs) to ensure overall traffic efficiency. Current study focus on the longitudinal control of CAV platoons, however it still remains a challenging problem to stay safe under lane-change scenarios where both longitudinal and lateral control is required.

Metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) affects nearly one‐third of the global population and poses a significant risk of progression to cirrhosis or liver cancer. Here, we discuss the roles of hepatic dendritic cell subtypes in MASLD, highlighting their distinct contributions to disease initiation and progression, and their ...

Research provides the basis for scientific discovery and advancements in all areas of science. The process of discovery involves countless repetitions of the identical experiment in order to make a claim about the topic in question. In order to properly conduct an experiment that is similar or the same to one already executed, all of the variables must
