Adaptive allocation in randomized controlled trials

Controlled Clinical Trials, 1985
Adaptive allocation has been proposed as a procedure to reduce the risk of chance imbalance of important prognostic factors in randomized controlled trials when the number of prognostic factors is large. In this article, minimization, a type of adaptive allocation, is compared to simple randomization and stratified allocation in a series of Monte Carlo

Vehicle dynamics control and controller allocation for rollover prevention

2006 IEEE Conference on Computer Aided Control System Design, 2006 IEEE International Conference on Control Applications, 2006 IEEE International Symposium on Intelligent Control, 2006
Vehicle rollover accidents are a particularly dangerous form of road accident. Commercial vehicles are especially prone to rollover accidents due to their high centres of gravity. A nonlinear control strategy is presented which guarantees asymptotic tracking of a yaw rate reference while bounding the roll angle, thus preventing rollover.

Evaluation of Optimization Methods for Control Allocation

Journal of Guidance, Control, and Dynamics, 2001
The performanceand computational requirements ofoptimization methodsfor control allocation areevaluated. Two control allocation problems are formulated: a direct allocation method that preserves the directionality of the moment and a mixed optimization method that minimizes the error between the desired and the achieved momentsaswellasthecontroleffort ...

Switching control resource allocation in Networked Control Systems

2015 54th IEEE Conference on Decision and Control (CDC), 2015
This paper is devoted to ℋ2 state feedback sampled-data control design in the context of Networked Control Systems (NCS). Signals are transmitted through a limited bandwidth channel and a cooperative resource sharing dynamic strategy is proposed in order to control simultaneously several different LTI plants.

Tailless aircraft control allocation

Guidance, Navigation, and Control Conference, 1997
Abstract : This paper presents a flight controller for a tail-less aircraft with a large suite of conventional and unconventional control effectors. The controller structure is modular to take advantages of individual technologies from the areas of plant parameter estimation, control allocation, and robust feedback control.

The Allocation of Control Rights in Pharmaceutical Alliances

SSRN Electronic Journal, 2006
Abstract This paper uses alliances in the biopharmaceutical industry to test contractual theories of the firm. I find that the allocation of control rights between pharmaceutical and biotechnology firms is sensitive to the bargaining position of both parties.

On dynamic control allocation for input-redundant control systems

2007 46th IEEE Conference on Decision and Control, 2007
In this paper we address control systems with redundant actuators and characterize the concepts of weak and strong input redundancy. Based on this characterization, we propose a dynamic augmentation to a control scheme which performs the plant input allocation with the goal of employing each actuator in a suitable way, based on its magnitude and rate ...

Control allocation overview and application to marine vessel control

2016 European Control Conference (ECC), 2016
The control algorithm hierarchy of motion control for over-actuated mechanical systems with a redundant set of effectors and actuators commonly includes three levels. First, a high-level motion control algorithm commands a vector of virtual control efforts (i.e. forces and moments) in order to meet the overall motion control objectives.
