Constrained optimal estimation and control

Automatica, 1997
The classical theories of the linear quadratic regulator and of the linear Gaussian estimator define the full gain matrix completely. However, many control and estimation problems would benefit from prescribing a different structure to the gain matrix. Typical is the case of the output feedback control, object of a wide literature since the 1970s.

Optimization and Control

2015
Considering the foundations, tools, and emerging discoveries of collaborative e-Work, as discussed in Chapters 1 and 2, it is realized that optimization and control are focused primarily on the core elements of e-Systems; agents, protocols, and workflows.

Controllability and Optimization

2003
We consider n players P i , i = 1,…, n, that are involved in a so called dynamical game. We assume that every player is assigned a state vector function x i : ℕ0 → ℝ ni and has at his disposal a control vector function u i : ℕ0 → ℝ mi which are dynamically coupled by a system of difference equations $$ \begin{gathered} x_i (t + 1) = g_i (x(t), u(t))

Efficiency Optimized Speed Control - Application of Optimal Control and Adaptive Control

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1987
Abstract New systematic synthesis method for efficiency optimized speed control of electrical drive system is proposed. Optimum ratio of armature impressed voltage (current) and field impressed voltage (current) giving minimum loss at an operating point is analytically derived.

Optimal Control and Dynamic Optimization

2003
Optimal control problems involve vector decision variables. These problems are one of the most mathematically challenging problems in optimization theory.

Controllability and Time Optimal Control

1995
In the previous chapters, an existence theory and some necessary conditions for optimal controls have been studied extensively. However, the nonemptiness of the admissible pair set has not been touched. In the first part of this chapter, we will discuss this issue in some detail. Such a problem is usually referred to as the controllablility problem. In

Convex Programming and Optimal Control

Journal of the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics Series A Control, 1965
The use of convex programming to attack problems of optimal control is not new, but it is becoming of increasing interest. Techniques of steepest descent and gradient projection have been used by Balakrishnan [1], Goldstein [2], [3], Neustadt [4], and Neustadt and Paiewonsky [5].

Control and Optimization

2006
Abstract. A wide range of various classical and modern control methods is classified from the point of view of required information and put in the context of optimization.
