Riparian Amphibian and Reptile Assemblages in Streams Along a Forest Regeneration Gradient in the Ecuadorian Chocó

open access: yesBiotropica, Volume 58, Issue 6, November 2026.
ABSTRACT While primary forests are declining, regenerating habitats are becoming increasingly common. In fragmented environments, streams may function as corridors between forest remnants for riparian and aquatic species. However, the responses of stream‐associated species to forest regeneration remain understudied.

Assessing responses of reef island seabirds to environmental and anthropogenic drivers. [PDF]

open access: yesConserv Biol
Abstract Tropical insular ecosystems face escalating, cumulative impacts of land‐ and sea‐based ecological threats that jeopardize the long‐term sustainability of their native communities. This joint vulnerability is epitomized by reef island seabirds, which are exposed to reef decline and coastal erosion driven by climate change, reduction in prey ...

Potential Range Shifts of Exotic Plants: Insights From a Mining‐Affected River Basin in Southeast Brazil

open access: yesBiotropica, Volume 58, Issue 6, November 2026.
ABSTRACT The concurrent effects of climate change and anthropogenic disturbances, such as mining disasters, can significantly influence the distribution of exotic plant species, either by reducing climatic suitability for some taxa or by creating disturbed conditions that favor their establishment and spread.

Arboreal and Terrestrial Frugivore Vertebrate Assemblage Diversity and Composition Vary With Disturbance Histories in Guianan Forests

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 10, October 2026.
This study examined the impact of human disturbances on arboreal and terrestrial fruit‐consuming vertebrate assemblages across three tropical forest sites in French Guiana. While species richness remained consistent across sites, results revealed significant variations in visitation rates and a shift in dominant species.
