Modelling for control engineering

2002
Control engineering systems, whether containing chemical, mechanical or electrical sub-processes, are of varying sizes and complexity. We would like to use a standard schematic form to represent all the different systems. We will then be able to examine common features and develop a general framework and understanding of control systems.

Engineering and quality control

Electrical Engineering, 1947
Quality control, a technique based on a study of variations in process, utilizes statistical methods for detecting defects in quantity manufacture. However, it is a theory founded on the elementary laws of chance and thus a knowledge of these laws is of invaluable aid to the engineer who must specify the required tests, adapt his designs to the tools ...

Engineering project control

Engineering Management Journal, 1995
How long will it take? How many people will it need? What is the best way to control it? These are the sort of questions that arise over and over again in the realm of engineering management. The answers will differ according to the importance and complexity of the project, but a number of basic principles apply.

EXPERIMENTS IN CONTROL ENGINEERING

Education + Training, 1964
CONTROL ENGINEERING has become, in essence, the application of feedback theory to engineering problems. The subject is not restricted by the usual boundaries between the applied sciences and, at the introductory level discussed in this article, I believe the aim should be to present the subject almost without regard to the source of power or ...

Introduction to Control Engineering

1968
Whenever energy is to be used purposefully, some form of control is necessary. In recent times there has been a considerable advance made in the art of automatic control. The art is, however, quite old, stemming back to about 1790 when James Watt invented the centrifugal governor1,2 to control the speed of his steam engines.
