Experimental control of chaos

Physical Review Letters, 1990
It was demonstrated that one can convert the motion of a chaotic dynamical system to periodic motion by controlling the system about one of the many unstable periodic orbits embedded in the chaotic attractor, through only small time dependent perturbations in an accessible system parameter.

Chaos and Chaos Control in Plasmas

Physica Scripta, 2000
Chaos and chaos control is studied in the Pierce-diode and in a laboratory plasma diode experiment. Both systems are characterized by a period doubling route to chaos that is characterized by a low-dimensional phase space attractor. Unstable periodic orbits of low periodicity can be stabilized in both systems by discrete time feedback control.

CHAOS, CHAOS CONTROL AND SYNCHRONIZATION OF A GYROSTAT SYSTEM

Journal of Sound and Vibration, 2002
Summary: The dynamic behavior of a gyrostat system subjected to external disturbance is studied in this paper. By applying numerical results, phase diagrams, power spectrum, period-T maps, and Lyapunov exponents are presented to observe periodic and choatic motions.

Controlling Lorenz chaos

International Journal of Systems Science, 1996
A variable structure control strategy is proposed to stabilize the well-known Lorenz chaos. It is shown that the switching between the Lorenz systems with slightly different parameters generates the sliding region such that when the trajectory enters the region, it will stay in it. Hence the system trajectory converges to the equilibrium asymptotically,

Patterns for Controlling Chaos in a Startup

Proceedings of the 8th Nordic Conference on Pattern Languages of Programs (VikingPLoP), 2014
A growing trend in industrial software engineering is that new software products and information services are developed under conditions of notable uncertainty. This is especially visible in startup enterprises which aim at new kinds of products and services in rapidly changing social web, where potential customers can quickly adopt new behavior ...

Chaos and control in the creative process

Journal of the American Academy of Psychoanalysis, 1985
This has been an attempt to understand the alternation of chaos and control in the creative process. As a painting acquires a life of its own, the artist loses control over it but then and only then can he or she establish an enriching dialogue with it. When losing control leads to too much anxiety, the artist will attempt to gain control over the work

Chaos to Control

Men and Masculinities, 2005
As certainties dissolve, meanings around heterosexual relationships become increasingly puzzling. Recent changes in academic/media recognition of “what it means to be a man” exacerbate this predicament. Men’s magazines attempt to escape this disorder by offering individual men a shared sense of direction. The present study looks for evidence of this in

The Control of Chaos

1992
This paper discusses the problem of controlling nonlinear systems with chaotic dynamics. In the low dimensional case, one can achieve efficient regulation by introducing error-driven dynamics for the control parameter. For systems with many degrees of freedom, as encountered in distributed computation, there is a simple and robust procedure for ...
