Generalized control systems, boundary control systems, and delayed control systems

Mathematics of Control, Signals, and Systems, 1990
We investigate the relationships between the three classes of systems mentioned in the title: we show that systems with delays in control are a special instance of boundary control systems, and a boundary control system produces a generalized control system when projected onto its (unstable) eigenspaces.

Control and controllability in compartmental systems

Mathematical Biosciences, 1976
Abstract The representation of physiological kinetics by linear compartments can be reformulated to include intercompartmental flows controlled by external variables. With this formulation, closed compartmental systems are shown to be uncontrollable, while open systems will generally be controllable if the matrix representing the intercompartmental ...

Control und Controlling- System

2011

Control Systems

2002
This chapter introduces the basic idea of a control system and the elements used. A control system is a system that for some particular input or inputs is used to control its output to some particular value, give a particular sequence of events, or execute an event if certain conditions are met.

Control of a chaotic system

Dynamics and Control, 1991
Given a Lorenz system subject to control \[ \dot x_ 1=-sx_ 1+sx_ 2, \dot x_ 2=rx_ 1-x_ 2-x_ 1 x_ 3+u, \dot x_ 3=x_ 1 x_ 2- bx_ 3, \] the authors suggest two different controllers to stabilize unstable equilibrium point of the uncontrolled system. They analyze a particular case \(s=10\), \(r=28\), \(b=8/3\), which has three unstable equilibrium points ...

On the Control of the Hovercraft System

Dynamics and Control, 2000
The authors consider the control of a hovercraft ship having two independent thrusters located at the aft. The model is differentially flat, and the control performs with respect to the fixed earth frame of reference. All system's variables are parameterized in terms of coordinates in the earth frame of reference.

Perturbation of Controllable Systems

SIAM Journal on Control and Optimization, 1978
Let a semi-dynamical system, $(A,B)$: \[\begin{gathered}(A,B)\quad \dot x = Ax + Bu\hfill \\ x(0) = 0\hfill \\ \end{gathered}\] be given on a Hilbert space X. When A is self-adjoins and semi-bounded with spectral measure $E( \cdot )$ it is shown that controllability of the system $(A,B)$ is equivalent to that of $(f(A),B)$ where $f( \cdot )$ is any ...

Coordinated control of the brake control system and the driveline control system

2007 International Conference on Control, Automation and Systems, 2007
The behavior of a vehicle is strongly influenced by the distribution of driving and braking torques in four wheels. Therefore, traction and stability characteristics of a vehicle can be controlled by the controlling driveline and the braking torques. However, independent and uncoordinated control of the brake and driveline control system can harm the ...

Control of system of systems

2009 7th IEEE International Conference on Industrial Informatics, 2009
This paper sets forth the stage for one of the most important issues in SoS - the control problem. The challenge for any control engineer and designer is to stabilize the SoS based on not only its own sensors on board, but just as critically important based on data transmissions from other sensors and actuators. For that reason the control design needs

Controller synthesis for networked control systems

Automatica, 2010
This paper presents a discrete-time model for networked control systems (NCSs) that incorporates all network phenomena: time-varying sampling intervals, packet dropouts and time-varying delays that may be both smaller and larger than the sampling interval.
