Sirolimus for Extracranial Arteriovenous Malformations: A Scoping Review of the Evidence in Syndromic and Non‐Syndromic Cases

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) are rare, high‐flow, vascular anomalies that can occur either sporadically or as part of a genetic syndrome. AVMs can progress with serious morbidity and even mortality if left unchecked. Sirolimus is an mTOR inhibitor that is effective in low‐flow vascular malformations; however, its role in AVMs is unclear.

Sliding mode control of quantum systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
This paper proposes a new robust control method for quantum systems with uncertainties involving sliding mode control (SMC). Sliding mode control is a widely used approach in classical control theory and industrial applications.

Pediatric Oncology Nursing Competencies in Latin America and the Caribbean: A Scoping Review to Inform Practice, Education, and Research

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Nurses are central to cancer care for children and adolescents, yet no comprehensive synthesis has defined essential core competencies for pediatric oncology nursing (PON) practice internationally, particularly in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC).

Automatic anatomical calibration for IMU-based elbow angle measurement in disturbed magnetic fields

open access: yesCurrent Directions in Biomedical Engineering, 2017
Inertial Measurement Units (IMUs) are increasingly used for human motion analysis. However, two major challenges remain: First, one must know precisely in which orientation the sensor is attached to the respective body segment.

NRASQ61R Expression in Lymphatic Endothelial Cells Causes Enlarged Vessels, Hemorrhagic Chylous Effusions, and High Mortality in a Mouse Model of Kaposiform Lymphangiomatosis

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Kaposiform lymphangiomatosis (KLA) is an aggressive complex lymphatic anomaly. Patients exhibit malformed lymphatic vessels and often develop hemorrhagic effusions and elevated angiopoietin‐2 (Ang‐2) levels. A somatic NRAS p.Q61R (NRASQ61R) mutation has been associated with KLA.

Increasing the contrast and accuracy of localization of objects of interest on orthophotomaps of the terrain built from distorted images from an unmanned aerial vehicle

open access: yesОмский научный вестник
In this article, we will consider and compare methods for eliminating distortions in the original images obtained from an unmanned aerial vehicle. The main goal of these methods is to increase the contrast and accuracy of determining the coordinates of ...

Temperature effects in composite structures of resonant frequency pressure sensor [PDF]

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences
The influence of temperature on the metrological parameters of measuring instruments is one of the primary challenges in their design. Temperature effects can introduce significant errors in measurements and also cause a reduction in sensitivity ...

Filtering enhanced tomographic PIV reconstruction based on deep neural networks

open access: yesIET Cyber-systems and Robotics, 2020
Tomographic particle image velocimetry (Tomo-PIV) has been successfully applied in measuring three-dimensional (3D) flow field in recent years. Such technology highly relies on the reconstruction technique which provides the spatial particle distribution
