OPTIMAL CONTROL OF A CONVECTIVE-DIFFUSIVE FLUID PROBLEM [PDF]

open access: yesMathematical Models and Methods in Applied Sciences, 1995
We consider optimal control of a parabolic differential equation, modeling one-dimensional fluid flow through a soil-packed tube in which a contaminant is initially distributed. A fluid is pumped through the tube to remove the contaminant. The convective velocity due to the fluid pumping is the nonlinear control action.

Domain decomposition algorithms and computation fluid dynamics [PDF]

open access: yes
In the past several years, domain decomposition was a very popular topic, partly motivated by the potential of parallelization. While a large body of theory and algorithms were developed for model elliptic problems, they are only recently starting to be ...

Preconditioned iterative methods for Navier-Stokes control problems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
PDE-constrained optimization problems are a class of problems which have attracted much recent attention in scientific computing and applied science. In this paper, we discuss preconditioned iterative methods for a class of Navier-Stokes control problems,

Bioconvective Chemically Reactive Radiative Squeezing Flow of a Casson Hybrid Nanofluid Between Two Parallel Plates Under Variable Viscosity

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Hybrid nanofluids, known for their superior thermal and electrical conductivity, have demonstrated remarkable potential in enhancing the heat transfer capability of conventional base fluids. This study analyzes the effects of viscous dissipation and heat radiation on two‐dimensional unsteady incompressible squeezing flow transporting hybrid ...

Version [1.1] - [2D-xtDCR-LTBEM: A Fortran code for numerical solutions to the unsteady anisotropic-DCR equation of spatio-temporal coefficients]

open access: yesSoftwareX
Variable coefficient equations are usually used as governing equations for modeling problems which are associated with Functionally Graded Materials (FGM). Version 1.1 - 2D-xtDCR-LTBEM is a Fortran code that can be used to find numerical solutions of two-

Behavior of different numerical schemes for population genetic drift problems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
In this paper, we focus on numerical methods for the genetic drift problems, which is governed by a degenerated convection-dominated parabolic equation.

Performance Investigation of Eco‐Friendly Refrigerant Mixtures as an Alternative to R134a in Vapour‐Compression Refrigeration System

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The growing impacts of climate change and energy scarcity demand environmentally sustainable refrigeration solutions. This study investigates eco‐friendly refrigerants (R152a, R290 and R600a) and their optimized ternary mixture as alternatives to R134a. Four blend compositions were analysed using experimental testing and REFPROP 10.0 modelling

Two‐Phase Nanofluid Flow in a Non‐Newtonian Model Past a Deformable Sheet With Magnetized Environmental Effects: Statistical Modeling and ANOVA Analysis

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper presents a comprehensive numerical analysis of magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) Casson nanofluid movement over a permeable, linearly stretching sheet, integrating the contributions of non‐uniform heat generation or absorption and chemical interaction.
