Intense femtosecond optical pulse shaping approaches to spatiotemporal control

open access: yesFrontiers in Chemistry, 2023
For studying any event, measurement can never be enough; “control” is required. This means mere passive tracking of the event is insufficient and being able to manipulate it is necessary.

A Simplified Laminar Flow Model for the Pultrusion of Glass Fiber/Polyethylene Terephthalate Commingled Yarns

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A simplified thermoplastic pultrusion model is developed to predict thermal fields in glass fiber/polyethylene terephthalate (GF/PET) composites with reduced computational cost. By combining effective material homogenization, validation against literature data, and Gaussian‐process‐based optimization, the study reveals how heating limits, pulling speed,

Two-dimensional numerical experiments of convection. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
PhDI report the results of numerical studies of 2-dimensional fully compressible convection of a fluid in which the dependence of the radiative conductivity on temperature T is taken as K, (V + aT -5)1 so that central regions of the layer are unstable ...

Prandtl-number dependence of convection-driven dynamos in rotating spherical fluid shells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
The value of the Prandtl number P exerts a strong influence on convection-driven dynamos in rotating spherical shells filled with electrically conducting fluids.

Recycling of NiTi Shape Memory Alloys: Fundamental and Technological Aspects of a Vacuum Induction Melting Processing Route

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The present study investigates recycling of NiTi shape memory alloys via vacuum induction melting. An ingot was synthesized from elemental Ni and Ti and subjected to three subsequent remelting cycles. Remelting increases process durations and impurity levels and adversely affects microstructures and functional properties.

Characteristics of atmospheric variables over the southern coast of West Java in the presence of Australian Monsoon and MRG waves

open access: yesKuwait Journal of Science
The characteristics of atmospheric variables over the southern coast of West Java in the presence of Australian Monsoon (AUM) and Mixed Rossby-Gravity (MRG) waves were investigated by conducting a dedicated radiosonde observation campaign from 26 to 29 ...

Analysis of Turbulent Free Convection in a Rectangular Rayleigh-Benard Cell [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The present study compares results of direct numerical simulations of thermal convection within a rectangular geometry with Rayleigh-Benard convection in thin fluid layers and cylindrical geometries.

Current Status and Challenges in Data Collection for Aerospace Coatings Deposited by Plasma Spraying

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An innovative approach has been integrated into the GRENAT project to optimize plasma spraying and coating performance. Raw materials are accelerated and melted in the plasma generated by torches, creating coatings. Monitoring sensors collect process data which are combined with ex situ characterization data.

Effect of Winglet-Designed Vortex Generators on Heat Transfer Performance in Corrugated Channels

open access: yesTaikomieji Moksliniai Tyrimai
This study focuses on improving heat transfer within corrugated channel. These channels are used to improve fluid mixing and heat transfer, but they typically result in recirculation zones inside.

NEW INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY AND ITS CAPACITIES FOR MODELING OF GEOSYSTEMS

open access: yesГеодинамика и тектонофизика, 2015
Numerical solution of the Navier-Stokes equations for free and forced convection in solid and porous media is challenging as an evolution equation for pressure is lacking. An information technology is proposed on the basis of a new system of hydrodynamic
