Root‐Stimulated Movements in Mimosa Pudica for Biohybrid Robotic Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that thermal and electrical stimulation of Mimosa pudica root induces movement of the petiole and pinnules without direct stimulation of the aerial organs, thereby enabling a plant‐based robotic gripper and providing a foundation for the development of intelligent and sustainable systems.

Geographic variation of surface energy partitioning in the climatic mean predicted from the maximum power limit

open access: yes, 2015
Convective and radiative cooling are the two principle mechanisms by which the Earth's surface transfers heat into the atmosphere and that shape surface temperature.

Climate Change Threatens Micronutrient Density of European Winter Wheat

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Micronutrients are vital for human health. Wheat is a major staple crop and a significant source of minerals and B‐vitamins. The impact of climate change on their content remains largely unknown. We evaluated micronutrient levels in European winter wheat grown under historical and projected climate conditions. Our findings indicate that future climates

Highly‐Conductive and Micro‐Structured Transparent Glass Substrates for Efficient and Scalable Photoelectrochemical Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work paves the way for practical photoelectrochemical water splitting devices by addressing key upscaling challenges related to substrate conductivity, absorber inhomogeneity, and mass transfer limitations. Integrated improvements in substrate engineering, material processing, device architecture, and operational conditions allow the development ...

A simplified method for determining convective heat-transfer coefficients [PDF]

open access: yes, 1970
Convective heat transfer coefficients are determined by measuring temperatures of hot and cold fluids separated by wall, and temperature of wall at single point.

Lymphoid‐Tissue‐on‐Chip Recapitulates Human Antibody Responses In Vitro

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The presented lymphoid‐tissue‐on‐chip system allows culture of primary human tonsil cells at organotypic high density under perfusion for up to 4 weeks, emulates immune response to soluble vaccines and vaccination via peripheral antigen‐presenting cells and represents a useful tool to assess cellular interactions during homeostasis, immune responses ...

Heat transfer in a vessel-tubes array with a rotating baffle: A rotating frame modeling approach

open access: yesInternational Journal of Thermofluids
Conveying heat from one medium to another is more critical when merging these media is banned. Thus, the media should flow individually in separate pipes.
