Safety of video-assisted thyroidectomy versus conventional surgery
Head & Neck, 2004Thyroid gland manipulation, surgical stress response, and postoperative outcome in cases of video-assisted thyroidectomy (VAT) and conventional thyroidectomy were compared to verify the safety of VAT.Twenty consenting patients were randomly assigned to undergo VAT or conventional thyroidectomy. Serum thyroglobulin levels were monitored as indicators of

Background: Various approaches for thyroid surgery became possible with the use of robotic systems. Transoral robotic thyroidectomy (TORT) is one of the newest approaches and draws attention because of its cosmetic excellence. In this study, we compared the surgical outcomes of TORT and conventional open thyroidectomy (OT).

Conventional Thyroidectomy Versus MIT: An Outcome Analysis
2012Cristiano Huscher of Italy published his data on the first completely endoscopic thyroidectomy in 1997 (Huscher et al. 1997). A review of the literature (Linos 2011) shows that at least 20 different minimally invasive thyroidectomy techniques have been proposed since 1997.
