Convergence on Categories

Applied Categorical Structures, 2007
The usual way to approach topological structures on the objects of a concrete category is via a categorical closure operator [see \textit{D. Dikranjan} and \textit{E. Giuli}, Topology Appl. 27, 129--143 (1987; Zbl 0634.54008)]. This paper puts forward an alternative form of topological structure that is here called a convergence structure.

On Almost Convergent and Statistically Convergent Subsequences

Acta Mathematica Hungarica, 2001
A bounded sequence \(s=(s_{n})\) is almost convergent to \(L\) if \[ \lim_{k}\frac{1}{k}\sum_{i=0}^{n-1}s_{n+i}=L,\quad \text{uniformly in }n . \] We write \(f\)-\(\lim s=L\) and \(\mathbf F=\{s=(s_{n}): f\text{-}\lim s=L\text{ for some }L\}.\) The sequence \(s=(s_{n})\) is called statistically convergent to \(L\) provided that \(\lim_{n}n^{-1}\left ...

On the Convergence of Leveraging

2002
We give an unified convergence analysis of ensemble learning methods including e.g. AdaBoost, Logistic Regression and the Least-Square-Boost algorithm for regression. These methods have in common that they iteratively call a base learning algorithm which returns hypotheses that are then linearly combined.

On the convergence condition and convergence time of BGP

Computer Communications, 2011
The Internet composes of thousands of Autonomous System (ASes). The Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) is the standard protocol for sharing inter-domain routing information. Unlike OSPF and IS-IS, BGP allows an AS to use a lot of attributes to express semantic rich routing policies that are consistent with its desired economic, business, performance, and ...

To Converge or Not to Converge: Accounting for the German Reunification

German reunification in 1990 marked the first sudden integration of a socialist and capitalist economy. Despite East Germany's (EG) economic catch-up with West Ger- many (WG), the integration remains unfinished, as indicated by per capita output in EG still being about one-third lower.

Convergence and Duality

Applied Categorical Structures, 2002
Two important theories are revisited from the point of view of category theory: MV-algebra theory and D-poset theory, both also with respect to probability theory and its applications.

Variational convergence of bivariate functions: lopsided convergence

Mathematical Programming, 2007
For bivariate functions \(F:C\times D\to \mathbb{R}\) the following problem is important: the finding of a maxinf-point \(\overline x\in C\), that maximizes with respect to the first variable \(x\), the infimum of \(F\) with respect to the second variable \(y\).

CONVERGENCE AND UNIFORM CONVERGENCE OF FOURIER SERIES

Mathematics of the USSR-Izvestiya, 1971
We prove theorems on the convergence and uniform convergence of the Fourier series of periodic functions at a point under local and global hypotheses on the functions. The results are extended to uniform convergence and convergence almost everywhere.
