The informal prisoner justice system: Classification, identification, and punishment of sex offenders behind bars

open access: yesCriminology, EarlyView.
Abstract Drawing on 576 interviews with incarcerated men and 131 correctional staff across five Western Canadian prisons, we reconceptualize the prison code as subcultural law, documenting the “informal prisoner justice system” as its enforcement arm. Although scholars have treated the code primarily as cultural values prescribing loyalty, silence, and

SDFs from Unoriented Point Clouds using Neural Variational Heat Distances

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
We propose a novel variational approach for computing neural Signed Distance Fields (SDF) from unoriented point clouds. We first compute a small time step of heat flow (middle) and then use its gradient directions to solve for a neural SDF (right). Abstract We propose a novel variational approach for computing neural Signed Distance Fields (SDF) from ...

Style Brush: Guided Style Transfer for 3D Objects

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
We introduce Style Brush, a guided 3D style‐transfer method for textured meshes that provides precise creative control. It supports the use of multiple style images, smooth transitions and intuitive guidance, producing visually appealing textures that follow user intent as we demonstrate in our user study and results. Abstract We introduce Style Brush,

Almost-Everywhere Convergence and (o)-Convergence in Rings of Measurable Operators Associated with a Finite von Neumann Algebra

open access: yes, 2003
Вивчається зв'язок між (o)-збіжністю і збіжністю майже скрізь в ермітовій частині кільця необмежених вимірних операторів, приєднаних до скінченної алгебри фон Неймана.

Basis Networks: Learning basis functions for free‐form triangulations

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
Abstract We present a framework for learning compactly supported basis functions that define tangent continuous surfaces based on coarse irregular triangle meshes. The basis functions are represented as MLPs. Smoothness of the basis functions is achieved by using the values of Loop basis functions as the parameterization of the surface.

Volume Quantization with Flexible Singularities for Hexahedral Meshing

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
Abstract We present a novel algorithm for quantization and subsequent hexahedral mesh generation from seamless volumetric maps. Quantization is the process of choosing integers that represent the numbers of hexahedral elements to be placed in each region of the volume, and transforming the seamless map into an integer‐grid map matching that choice ...

On almost everywhere convergence of planar Bochner-Riesz mean [PDF]

open access: yes
We demonstrate that the almost everywhere convergence of the planar Bochner-Riesz means for $L^p$ functions in the optimal range when $5/3\leq p\leq 2$. This is achieved by establishing a sharp $L^{5/3}$ estimate for a maximal operator closely associated

Real‐time by‐example texture synthesis and filtering using local statistics exchange

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
Abstract Real‐time by‐example texture synthesis is used in interactive virtual worlds to generate the appearance of an unbounded surface from an exemplar texture with as few repetitions as possible. Currently, leading real‐time methods rely on a tiling and blending scheme which is known to synthesize well texture patterns with little spatial ...

Almost everywhere convergence of orthogonal expansions of several variables

open access: yes, 2003
For weighted L¹ space on the unit sphere of R^d+1, in which the weight functions are invariant under finite reflection groups, a maximal function is introduced and used to prove the almost everywhere convergence of orthogonal expansions in h-harmonics ...
