Conversion efficiency of soliton Kerr combs

Optics Letters, 2021
We investigate the conversion efficiency (CE) of soliton modelocked Kerr frequency combs. Our analysis reveals three distinct scaling regimes of CE with the cavity free spectral range (FSR), which depends on the relative contributions of the coupling and propagation loss to the total cavity loss.

Evaluation of thermophotovoltaic conversion efficiency

Journal of Applied Physics, 1982
The theory and the experiments on thermophotovoltaic (TPV) conversion are reported in this paper. The various parameters characterizing TPV systems are studied in order to provide design information for actual converters. Both the experimental results and theoretical calculations of TPV conversion efficiency are presented for comparison.

Absolute oil fluorescence conversion efficiency

Applied Optics, 1976
A conceptual method has been developed to deduce the characteristic infinite thickness absolute conversion efficiencies of oils from measured finite thickness film fluorescent returns. The sea water Raman signal is used as a reference in deducing the fluorescent efficiencies.

Thermodynamic energy conversion efficiencies

Journal of Applied Physics, 1980
Much recent work on thermodynamic energy conversion efficiencies is here presented ab initio and from a unified point of view. New considerations are offered and previous work is analyzed in light of the unified presentation. The energy conversion processes discussed include, for example, the conversion into light in a laser or light-emitting diode and

Efficiency of Feed Conversion

Science, 1967
Under optimum conditions, young healthy individuals of each livestock species may convert about one-third of the digestible protein in its feed into tissue protein in its body. Of this tissue protein, we use about half as food.

Energy Conversion Efficiencies

2012
Efficiency is a measure of the true effectiveness or performance of a system or a process. It may take different forms but it can generally be defined as the desired output over the required input. Energy conversion efficiency refers to an efficiency definition for a device for which one form of energy is converted to another form.

Perfect Photon-to-Hydrogen Conversion Efficiency

Nano Letters, 2016
We report a record 100% photon-to-hydrogen production efficiency, under visible light illumination, for the photocatalytic water-splitting reduction half-reaction. This result was accomplished by utilization of nanoparticle-based photocatalysts, composed of Pt-tipped CdSe@CdS rods, with a hydroxyl anion-radical redox couple operating as a shuttle to ...

Energy Conversion Efficiency in Nanotube Optoelectronics

Nano Letters, 2005
We present theoretical performance estimates for nanotube optoelectronic devices under bias. Current-voltage characteristics of illuminated nanotube p-n junctions are calculated using a self-consistent nonequilibrium Green's function approach. Energy conversion rates reaching tens of percent are predicted for incident photon energies near the band gap ...

Analysis of Magnetoelastic Conversion Efficiency

Journal of Applied Physics, 1966
Coupling of spin waves and elastic waves in ferrimagnetic materials is investigated theoretically. The magnetoelastic equations are transformed into coupled equations for fast and slow hybrid waves; the magnetoelastic coupling mechanism is then treated as a distributed directional coupler where the velocities of quasinormal modes are slowly tapered ...

High Efficiency Thermoelectric Power Conversion

MRS Proceedings, 2005
ABSTRACTRecent efforts at Teledyne Energy Systems, Inc. have lead to significant improvements in thermoelectric (TE) materials and power conversion devices. A number of improved formulations have been identified for standard n-type PbTe and p-type TAGS alloys. The preliminary test results appear to show nearly a 50% increase in the dimensionless figure-
