Microcomputer control of power converters
IEEE Power Engineering Review, 1984Thyristor power converters are charac terized by an inherent discrete control action and are, therefore, particularly well suited to on-line control by microcomputers. The paper presents a new design of digital controllers based upon powerfull 16-bit or bit-slice microprocessors, which provide high firing time resolution and enough computing power to ...

We saw in the preceding chapter how diodes can be used to rectify an ac input voltage to produce an uncontrolled dc output. These circuits—whether half-wave or full-wave configurations under resistive, inductive, or capacitive loads—have one common feature: The level of the output voltage is a function only of the circuit parameters and the peak ...

Matrix Converter Control System
PIERS Online, 2005The presented paper deals with the matrix converter control hardware and software conception. The built matrix converter is used to treat the electrically transmitted energy part of the investigated hybrid power splitting drive system. The digital control system used for the realized test bed consists of two personal computers.

Digitally controlled buck converter
2004 IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems (IEEE Cat. No.04CH37512), 2004Digitally controlled step down converter with different control law algorithms is studied in this paper. The state controller is designed to eliminate the start-up overshoot and reduce maximal dynamic error of load change response, but the state controller is not capable of eliminating the steady-state error under the load change condition. By using an

Buck converter controlled by Arduino Uno
2016 39th International Convention on Information and Communication Technology, Electronics and Microelectronics (MIPRO), 2016The paper presents a buck converter controlled with microcontroller integrated on Arduino Uno board. The control is implemented by use of PI controller embedded on Arduino Uno board. Open loop control-to-output transfer function is obtained from measured step response.

Converter-based FACTS controllers
IEE Colloquium Flexible AC Transmission Systems - the FACTS, 1998The author describes how there are two distinctly different approaches to the realization of power electronics-based FACTS controllers (VAr compensators), both resulting in a comprehensive group of controllers able to address targeted transmission problems.

Predictive control of parallel boost converters
2008 34th Annual Conference of IEEE Industrial Electronics, 2008In this paper a novel predictive control for parallel power factor correction (PFC) scheme is proposed. It is based on an optimized power sharing where the active filtering approach is used in order to increase the current quality and, at the same time, to reduce the switching losses.

Integrated optimal control of quasi-direct converters
Proceedings of 1994 IEEE Applied Power Electronics Conference and Exposition - ASPEC'94, 1997This paper deals with control and design of quasi-direct converters, i.e. AC/AC converters including a forced-commutated rectifier, an inverter and a small filter in the DC link. Converter performances can be optimised by means of a predictive digital control strategy, which ensures instantaneous input-output power balance, fast response and high power

DC-DC converter control using IP controller
2014 International Conference on Computation of Power, Energy, Information and Communication (ICCPEIC), 2014Closed loop control strategy is indispensable in power converters to meet the desired load requirements. PI controller is one among the existing control schemes. This scheme has a single loop arrangement with proportional and integral gains in the forward path.

Robust control of current-mode controlled converters
Proceedings Eighth Annual Applied Power Electronics Conference and Exposition,, 2002A robust controller for multimodule current-mode push-pull power converters is presented. First, the small-signal equivalent circuit and transfer function model of the converter system are found. Then the slope compensation is selected and model reduction is performed using the concept of dominant energy mode.
