Differential Protection for Converter Transformers

12th IET International Conference on Developments in Power System Protection (DPSP 2014), 2014
This paper will present differential protection schemes used for special Converter Transformers. These transformers are typically used to feed MV drives, power electronic or FACTS devises. Converter transformers are industrial power transformers which may have phase angle shift different from standard 30o or a multiple of 30o.

Multiphase Converter Based on Transformer Coupling

IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics, 2011
In this paper, a multiphase converter where the phases are coupled by transformers is proposed to implement a minimum energy-storage converter. Advantages and drawbacks of this topology are analyzed and validated by means of three prototypes. The two main advantages of the minimum energy-storage concept are that the converter can be operated at very ...

Transformation Elastography: Converting Anisotropy to Isotropy

2020 IEEE 17th International Symposium on Biomedical Imaging (ISBI), 2020
Elastography refers to mapping mechanical properties in a material based on measuring wave motion in it using noninvasive optical, acoustic or magnetic resonance imaging methods. For example, increased stiffness will increase wavelength. Stiffness and viscosity can depend on both location and direction. A material with aligned fibers or layers may have

Isolated ZVS two-transformer boost converter

2009 IEEE Energy Conversion Congress and Exposition, 2009
A new zero-voltage-switching (ZVS) two-transformer boost converter (TTBC) is proposed in this paper. The magnetizing inductors of two transformer act as boost inductor, while two transformers provide a galvanic isolation. Moreover, ZVS of all switches can be achieved. Therefore, the proposed converter is promising for high step-up isolated applications

Harmonic load losses in HVDC converter transformers

IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, 1991
Short-circuit losses were measured on a 213 MVA single-phase converter transformer at a number of frequencies between 60 Hz and 6 kHz. Using the results of these tests the harmonic losses during AC/DC converter operation were calculated. Variations of harmonic losses with transformer reactance, transformer winding stray loss factor and converter firing

Power converters simulation via wavelet transforms

COM.P.EL.98. Record 6th Workshop on Computer in Power Electronics (Cat. No.98TH8358), 2002
This paper presents a new approach for the analysis and the resolution of power electronics circuits, based on the Haar set of orthogonal wavelet functions. A simple recursive algorithm for construction of the integral and convolution matrix, associated with these operators in the domain, are proposed.
