A Flexible Metamaterial Absorber via Loss Engineering for Large‐Area Ultra‐Broadband Infrared Extinction

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Designed and demonstrated a flexible metamaterial absorber via loss engineering for large‐area ultra‐broadband infrared extinction, providing a new method for miniaturization of absorbers and flexible optical devices. ABSTRACT The advancement of compact and wearable optical systems is critically limited by the lack of high‐performance, integrable ...

The structure of approximate solutions of variational problems without convexity

open access: yes, 2004
In this work we study the structure of approximate solutions of variational problems with continuous integrands f:[0,∞)×Rn×Rn→R1 which belong to a complete metric space of functions. We do not impose any convexity assumption.

Asymmetric Electrostrain/Electrobending in Piezoelectric Ceramics: Role of Defect Dipoles or Oxygen Vacancies

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Defect‐configurational origins of the asymmetric apparent electrostrain are revealed in different piezoelectric ceramics via atomic‐scale visualization of defect configurations. Migration of oxygen vacancies leads to the electrobending effect in N2‐sintered BaTiO3, while defect dipoles in Ba0.99TiO2.99 generate true asymmetric electrostrain without ...

Flexoelectricity in Photoconversion: Fundamentals, Materials, and Outlooks

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Mechanical bending of a flexible cantilever induces a strain gradient in the photoactive material. The resulting flexoelectric field couples with photovoltaic and photoconductive effects, modulating charge generation, separation, and collection. A comparative analysis of oxide perovskites, halide perovskites, and two‐dimensional materials is presented,

Strain‐Preserving Transfer of Freestanding Oxide Membranes for Tunable Magnetic Anisotropy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An epoxy‐assisted exfoliation and transfer strategy circumvents the trade‐off between structural flexibility and strain tunability in freestanding oxide membranes. Epitaxial strain is effectively preserved, enabling versatile and robust control of magnetic anisotropy without sacrificing flexibility.

Programmable Elastic Wave Control Via Mechanical‐Acoustic Interaction in Bistable Metamaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A mechanically programmable metamaterial based on mechanical‐acoustic interaction enables reconfigurable elastic wave control through bistable state switching. Spatial encoding of peak and valley states tunes band structures and transmission, achieving low‐frequency vibration suppression, waveguiding, and energy localization.

Learning Multi-Attribute Differential Graphs With Non-Convex Penalties

open access: yesIEEE Access
We consider the problem of estimating differences in two multi-attribute Gaussian graphical models (GGMs) which are known to have similar structure, using a penalized D-trace loss function with non-convex penalties.

Convexity theory for the term structure equation

open access: yes
We study convexity and monotonicity properties for prices of bonds and bond options when the short rate is modeled by a diffusion process. We provide conditions under which convexity of the price in the short rate is guaranteed.
