Genetic variation in zoophagy and dietary shift in the phytozoophagous tarnished plant bug, Lygus lineolaris

open access: yesEntomologia Experimentalis et Applicata, Volume 173, Issue 11, Page 1189-1195, November 2025.
Phytozoophagous insects such as Lygus lineolaris feed on plants and prey. This study assessed the genetic variability and heritability of zoophagy and dietary shift in 15 isofemale lines with access to Ephestia kuehniella eggs and with or without access to plant resources.

Accumulation of Heavy Metals in Conyza canadensis

open access: yesIntegrative And Comparative Biology
Synopsis Many plant species are known to take up metals from the soil and accumulate them to potentially toxic levels. This may provide tolerance to soils with high metal content or a defensive mechanism against herbivores and pathogens.

Similarity in Persistence Traits Is Important for CoExistence With Perennial Invasive Asclepias syriaca but Not Annual Invasive Conyza canadensis

open access: yesJournal of Vegetation Science, Volume 36, Issue 6, November/December 2025.
We tested two alternative hypotheses regarding the co‐occurrence of selected invasive species with other species based on functional traits: (1) if limiting similarity is the dominant assembly process; the less similar species are more likely to associate with the targeted invasive species, or (2) if environmental filtering is more important; then more

Weed Management Potentials of Identified Invasive Weed Species

open access: yesJPAIR, 2015
Synthetic herbicide, the most popular weed control, causes environmental hazards. The use of allelopathy in controlling weeds is a possible alternative for sustainable weed management.

ZZE-Configuration of chromophore ß-153 in C-phycocyanin from Mastigocladus laminosus [PDF]

open access: yes, 1987
The photochemistry of C-phycocyanin has been studied after denaturation in the dark. It shows an irreversible reaction which has characteristics of a Ζ,Ζ,Ε- to Z,Z,Z-isomerization of dihydrobilins. Its amplitude depends on the reaction conditions, with

Determining the ecological value and farmers' perceptions of set‐aside land

open access: yesEcosphere, Volume 16, Issue 10, October 2025.
Abstract Set‐aside fields are widely considered effective measures for maintaining biodiversity and ecosystem services in agricultural landscapes, although their ecological value depends on specific management and landscape context. Here, we assessed a multidimensional index of the ecological value of plant communities in 16 set‐aside fields ...

An inventory of invasive alien species in China [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Invasive alien species (IAS) are a major global challenge requiring urgent action, and the Strategic Plan for Biodiversity (2011–2020) of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) includes a target on the issue.
