Spatial Transcriptomics Reveals a T Cell‐Mediated Microglial Activation Axis of Immune Checkpoint Inhibition‐Related Adverse Events in the Brain

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Immune checkpoint inhibition (ICI) reshapes the hippocampal neuroimmune niche. Spatial transcriptomic profiling and human brain histological analyses identify neuroinflammation and altered neuronal and glial programs. Notably, T cell depletion prevents ICI‐driven microglial activation, establishing the T cell–microglia crosstalk axis as a driving ...

Contrasting foraging strategies of seasonally segregated populations of the band-rumped storm-petrel at St Helena, South Atlantic

open access: yesMovement Ecology
Background Allochrony can be a cause or consequence of speciation, either creating temporal reproductive isolation that reduces gene flow between diverging populations or reinforcing divergence that has already occurred through geographic isolation.

Synergistic Effects in Multistate Black Electro‐Thermochromic Smart Windows for Energy‐Efficient Modulation of Solar Heating

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Hybrid electro‐thermochromic smart windows are developed for dynamic climate control by integrating a redox‐matched black electrochromic gel with a paraffin‐based thermochromic film. This synergistic combination enables multimodal solar modulation, where photothermal heating from the electrochromic layer triggers thermochromic activation at lower ...

Persistence of the invasive bird-parasitic fly Philornis downsi over the host interbreeding period in the Galapagos Islands

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
Many parasites of seasonally available hosts must persist through times of the year when hosts are unavailable. In tropical environments, host availability is often linked to rainfall, and adaptations of parasites to dry periods remain understudied.

Spontaneous Cyclic Levitation of Glycerol‐Water Droplets at Low Pressures

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Under low pressure, a minute glycerol addition transforms the chaotic dynamics of freezing water droplets into cyclic levitation. Freeze‐concentration preserves liquid pathways that relax expansion‐induced stress, while freezing point depression weakens asymmetric vaporization recoil.

Bee Habitat, but Not Bee Community Structure, Varies Across Grassland Management in Four National Parks in the Mid‐Atlantic, USA

open access: yesEcology and Evolution
National Park Service units in the United States play a large role in providing habitat for native pollinators. In parks that are established to preserve cultural landscapes, park managers recognize an opportunity to improve pollinator habitat while ...

Predicting Enzyme Turnover Numbers and Enabling Rational Enzyme Evolution

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
MCKcat, a deep learning framework combining multi‐scale convolution and cross‐attention, accurately predicts enzyme turnover number (kcat) by fusing sequence and reaction representations. It couples with rational design in a two‐step strategy for Bacillus aryabhattai laccase engineering, achieving a 75% positive rate with synergistically enhanced ...

Blue Light Receptor PHR2‐Mediated Spectrum Antiviral Immunity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Blue light suppresses RBSDV through the blue‐light receptor ZmPHR2, which interacts with ZmISP in chloroplasts to trigger ROS burst and antiviral defense. The viral effector P6 enhances ZmPHR2–ZmISP interaction, alters their distribution, and suppresses ROS.

Thermal performance analysis for roofs with heat mitigation strategies in subtropical hot and humid regions

open access: yesScientific Reports
The thermal behavior of roofs significantly impacts the indoor thermal environment. Rooftop mitigation strategies (RMS), as effective measures to reduce cooling load and improve indoor thermal comfort, have been extensively studied.
