Zinc sulfide-pigmented polyethylene aerogel covers for daytime radiative cooling
Journal of Photonics for Energy, 2021Optically selective and thermally insulating (OSTI) covers, such as polyethylene aerogels (PEAs), have recently been proposed to improve subambient daytime radiative cooling performance by minimizing parasitic solar absorption and heat gain at the emitter.

NIR reflective pigments for cool roof applications: A comprehensive review
Journal of Cleaner Production, 2021Abstract We performed a comprehensive review of the state of the art of synthesis methods for pigments employed for cool roof. The aim is to present the best synthesis method, among those proposed, in terms of energy and raw materials costs. In particular, inorganic NIR reflective pigments not containing metals that can adversely affect the ...

Cool and photocatalytic reddish-brown nanostructured Fe2O3@SiO2@TiO2 pigments
Materials Science and Engineering: B, 2020Abstract In the present study, the influence of the crystalline structure of Fe2O3(amorphous) @TiO2, α-Fe2O3@TiO2 and α-Fe2O3 @SiO2 @TiO2 nanocomposites on the NIR-reflectance and photocatalytic properties have been investigated. The nano-sized α-Fe2O3, SiO2 and TiO2 were prepared via co-precipitation, Stober and sol-gel methods, respectively.

Radiative Cooling With Pigmented Polyethylene Foils
SPIE Proceedings, 1989Polyethylene foils containing a nonabsorbing pigment can be suitable for radiative cooling because of their high reflectance of solar radiation combined with a high transmittance in the atmospheric window region in the thermal infrared. We have studied the optical properties in the wavelength range 0.3-50 μm of extruded polyethylene foils containing ...

Radiative cooling efficiency of white pigmented paints
Solar Energy, 1993Abstract Nocturnal temperature measurements of various infrared selective radiators performing radiative cooling have been carried out. Measured temperature differences between the radiators and ambient temperature were about 10°C. Radiating surfaces have been prepared by applying different kinds of paints on aluminium substrates.

New red pigments based on Li3AlMnO5 for NIR reflective cool coatings
Ceramics International, 2021Abstract The exploration of new red pigments based on transition elements is of great practical value in the field of inorganic pigments, since the red coloured pigments have unique applications in paints, ceramic tiles, cosmetics, etc. Here we mainly reported a new class of eco-friendly red pigments based on substituted Li3AlMnO5 (LAMO) and briefly ...

Cool and photocatalytic yellow ceramic pigments; from lead-tin to Cr doped scheelite pigments
Ceramics International, 2019Abstract The historical lead based pigments (XVII-XVIII century), the modern Ni,Sb-rutile (1939) and Pr-zircon (1961) yellow pigments as well as the novel yellow pigments based on Cr-scheelite and Mo-yttrium cerate pigments were synthesized and compared as semiconductors of high NIR reflectance (cool pigments) and with photocatalytic activity.

Treatment of benign pigmented lesions using a novel Dermal Cooling System
Lasers in Surgery and Medicine, 2018Benign pigmented lesions are among the most common dermatologic diagnoses that patients seek treatments for. Treatment modalities range from cryotherapy to light and laser‐based technologies. These treatments have been shown to be effective, yet may lead to dyschromia or significant downtime.

Investigation of substituent effect on cool activity of perylene bisimide pigments
Journal of Coatings Technology and Research, 2018In this paper, some derivatives of perylene bisimides are successfully synthesized and characterized using FTIR, HNMR and XRD techniques. In addition, their UV–Vis–NIR reflectance spectra are investigated. Synthesized pigments were planned to have high structural similarities as all of them were N,N′-diphenyl-3,4,9,10-perylenedicarboximide derivatives.

Bismuth titanate as an infrared reflective pigment for cool roof coating
Solar Energy Materials and Solar Cells, 2018Abstract A pale-yellow color nano pigment Bi 4 Ti 3 O 12 (BTO) with impressive infrared (IR) reflectance (R = 95%) was synthesized using a simple hydrothermal method and characterized its crystalline nature, structural property, morphology and optical properties using X-ray diffraction technique (XRD), Raman spectroscopy, Fourier Transform infrared ...
