Evolutionarily divergent DUF4465 domains have a common vitamin B12‐binding function
We show that DUF4465 family proteins, widespread across bacteria from gut microbiomes, hydrothermal vents, and soil, share a common vitamin B12‐binding function. These augmented β‐jellyroll proteins bind vitamin B12 via extended loops. Our findings establish sequence‐diverse DUF4465 proteins as a widespread class of B12‐binding proteins, highlighting ...

Numerical Study on Cooling Effect of Downhole Cooling System of Instrument While Drilling
Deep and ultra-deep reservoirs have been listed as important replacement areas for oil and gas resources. However, downhole high temperature in deep layers shortens the service life of the instrument while drilling, and even makes it fail.

Dynamics of Spontaneous Magnetization Reversal in Exchange Biased Heterostructures
The dependence of thermally induced spontaneous magnetization reversal on time-dependent cooling protocols was studied. Slower cooling and longer waiting close to the N\`{e}el temperature of the antiferromagnet ($T_N$) enhances the magnetization reversal.

Enzymatic and microbial routes to bioplastics: The green chemistry frontier of biopolymers
Microbial biosynthesis and engineered enzyme platforms are expanding the design space of polyhydroxyalkanoate bioplastics. By combining fermentation, PHA synthase engineering and cell‐free modular systems, tailored biodegradable polymers can be produced with tunable properties, supporting more sustainable materials and future circular bioeconomy ...

Pomeranchuk effect and spin-gradient cooling of Bose-Bose mixtures in an optical lattice
We theoretically investigate finite-temperature thermodynamics and demagnetization cooling of two-component Bose-Bose mixtures in a cubic optical lattice, by using bosonic dynamical mean field theory (BDMFT).

SPG4 and Dementia: Expanding the Clinical Spectrum
ABSTRACT Objective Hereditary spastic paraplegia (HSP) is a group of disorders characterized by progressive spasticity and lower limb weakness, with mutations in SPG4/SPAST being the most common cause. Detailed studies and clinical and molecular comparisons across different populations are missing.

Objective We examined whether 18 months of strength training in individuals with knee varus alignment and medial tibiofemoral osteoarthritis (OA) reduced knee joint loads during walking compared to an attention control group. Methods This study was a secondary analysis of a randomized clinical trial that compared the effects of strength training to a ...
