Direct sun can generate the same heat as a single bar radiator over each square meter of a surface. Shading can cool up to 90% of this heat. The big problem is that sunlight is a direct source of heat and the radiant heat from the sun passes through glass and is absorbed by building elements and furnishings, which then re-radiate it.

Effects of Curvature on the Film Cooling Effectiveness of Double-Jet Film Cooling
Volume 5B: Heat Transfer, 2014The effect of curvature on the film cooling characteristics of Double-Jet Film Cooling (DJFC) was numerically investigated using three-dimensional Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS). The low-Reynolds number shear stress transport (SST) model was employed as the turbulence closure model.

Therapeutic Effects of Postburn Cooling
Journal of Biomechanical Engineering, 1978The use of cooling as first aid in burn injury has been widely justified and employed although, at present, there exists no defined scientific verification of its physiological benefit or a rational therapeutic protocol to follow. The objective of this study was to identify and to quantify the primary parameters which control cooling therapy ...

Effect of Array Jet on Cooling Effectiveness on Full-Coverage Film Cooled Surface
Volume 2: Theory and Fundamental Research; Aerospace Heat Transfer; Gas Turbine Heat Transfer; Computational Heat Transfer, 2009In this study, the cooling effectiveness (Φ) was measured on full-coverage film cooled surface with and without array jet impingement cooing using an infra-red thermographic technique. Measurements were conducted with two test plates of different thermal conductivities.

Confirmation of shutdown cooling effects
AIP Conference Proceedings, 2015After the Fukushima accidents, all nuclear power plants in Japan have gradually stopped their operations and have long periods of shutdown. During those periods, reactivity of fuels continues to change significantly especially for high-burnup UO2 fuels and MOX fuels due to radioactive decays. It is necessary to consider these isotopic changes precisely,
