Combined Thermal Effect of Cool Roof and Cool Façade on a Prototype Building

open access: yesEnergy Procedia, 2015
AbstractRecently, huge efforts were made to develop new passive solutions for optimizing building summer thermal-energy behavior. While cool roofs are well investigated, a lack of knowledge is detected about the benefits deriving from the combination of cool roofs and cool façades.

Direct measurements and analysis of skin friction and cooling downstream of multiple flush-slot injection into a turbulent Mach 6 boundary layer [PDF]

open access: yes
Experiments were conducted to determine the reduction in surface skin friction and the effectiveness of surface cooling downstream of one to four successive flush slots injecting cold air at an angle of 10 deg into a turbulent Mach 6 boundary layer. Data

Revisiting Stability Criteria in Ball‐Milled High‐Entropy Alloys: Do Hume–Rothery and Thermodynamic Rules Equally Apply?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.

Numerical study of effusion cooling on an adiabatic flat plate

open access: yesPropulsion and Power Research, 2013
The present study aims to investigate the effectiveness of effusion film cooling on an adiabatic flat plate. Cylindrical holes of 30° inclination are used for supplying cold air to the hot primary flow. A non-dimensional parameter called the film cooling

Experimental Evaluation of 100Cr6 Steel Microindented Surfaces Under Lubricated Nonconformal Point Contacts

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The tribological behavior of 100Cr6 steel spheres textured via Vickers microindentation is evaluated under lubricated sliding by varying both dimple size and density. Fine and dense textures significantly reduce friction across all lubrication regimes, while large dimples increase it.

Effect of providing cooling techniques (pre-cooling & per-cooling) on cognitive function

open access: yesRetos
The implementation of cooling techniques plays a crucial role in minimizing exercise-induced hyperthermia, thereby enhancing performance and preserving cognitive function during training. However, studies on the effect of cooling techniques on cognitive function have yielded mixed results due to inconsistent methodologies, unclear implementation ...

Carboxylic‐Acid Functionalized Multiwalled Carbon Nanotube‐Alkane‐Based Resistive Temperature Sensor for Cold Chain Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a reversible temperature sensor with high switching ratio, ∼103. The device is fabricated using PET‐ITO and carbon nanotube dispersions in alkane. Considering its application in cold chain logistics, a proof‐of‐concept with LED is showcased. Thus, a temperature drop below the threshold temperature (crystallization temperature of the
