Subminiature Cool Pad Applying Sorption Cooling Effect
HVAC&R Research, 2006This paper describes the conceptual development and idea verification of a subminiature portable cooler that does not necessitate any precooling nor any external energy supply during the process of cooling. The basic principle of the cooling mechanism is the vaporization of water and subsequent cooling due to the evaporative latent heat loss.

Cooling Effectiveness on Film Cooled Turbine Blades
Heat Transfer: Volume 5 — Computational, Aerospace and Environmental Heat Transfer, 2001Abstract This paper presents experiments on the cooling effectiveness obtained for two different injection locations on the suction side of a turbine blade at transonic flow conditions. Previous results of a computational analysis and flow visualization indicated that a separation bubble is present on the suction side at a location x/L =

Oil Cooling - Its Effect on Engine Cooling Systems
SAE Technical Paper Series, 1963<div class="htmlview paragraph">Selection of a water or air cooling medium for engine systems depends on the availability of the medium, the design of the engine, and the conditions under which the system operates. This article presents a number of cases for both water and air cooled systems, compares their characteristics, and describes the ...

Theoretical (Ideal) Module Cooling and Module Cooling Effectiveness
Volume 3: Advanced Fabrication and Manufacturing; Emerging Technology Frontiers; Energy, Health and Water- Applications of Nano-, Micro- and Mini-Scale Devices; MEMS and NEMS; Technology Update Talks; Thermal Management Using Micro Channels, Jets, Sprays, 2015When contemplating processor module cooling, the notion of maximum cooling capability is not simple or straight forward to estimate. There are a multitude of variables and constraints to consider; some more rigid or fixed than others. This paper proposes a theoretical maximum cooling capability predicated on the treatment of the module heat sink or ...

Abstract Adiabatic rotation of 4 He in packed powder is shown to provide a new cooling effect. Using a simplified model and some experimental parameters it is estimated that (Δ T / T ) 1°K ≈-0.25°K.

Surface roughness effects on film-cooling effectiveness in a fan-shaped cooling hole
Aerospace Science and Technology, 2021Abstract Large eddy simulations (LES) were carried out to investigate the influence of surface roughness, which was applied to the inner walls of a cooling hole, on cooling performance and flow structures. The cooling hole was a 30-degree inclined, baseline 7-7-7 fan-shaped hole relative to a turbulent flat plate boundary layer of the mainstream ...

The effects of cooling mouse oocytes
Journal of Assisted Reproduction and Genetics, 1992The effects of cooling and warming on meiotic spindles of mouse oocytes have been assessed by transmission electron microscopy. Intact cumulus-oocyte complexes were immediately cooled from 37 to 15, 4, 0, and -7 degrees C (seeding temperature) for 15 min in a programmed biological freezer and fixed at these temperatures.

The effects of cooling human oocytes*
Human Reproduction, 1988Preovulatory human oocytes were cooled to 0 degrees C at 1 degree C/min, with or without the cryoprotectant dimethyl sulphoxide (DMSO), to assess the effects of cooling on the meiotic spindles and on oocyte structure. Batches of oocytes, cultured for 3-9 h, were held at 0 degrees C for 20 or 60 min and then fixed for transmission electron microscopy ...

Effects of chemical reaction caused by cooling stream on film cooling effectiveness
Journal of Thermal Science, 2012With the increase of inlet temperature of gas turbines, the benefits by using the conventional methods are likely to approach their limits. Therefore, it is essential to study novel film cooling methods for surpassing these current limits. Based on the theory of heat transfer enhancement, a film cooling method with chemical reaction by cooling stream ...

Effects of Showerhead Cooling on Turbine Vane Suction Side Film Cooling Effectiveness
Heat Transfer: Volume 3, 2000Abstract The process of film cooling is known to severely disturb the boundary layer around a turbine airfoil. Since most film-cooled airfoils have more than one injection station, the flow field approaching a row of film cooling holes could be altered by the presence of an upstream cooling station.
