The reciprocating motion characteristics of nanofluid inside the piston cooling gallery
Powder Technology, 2015Abstract With the peak cylinder pressure in diesel engines steadily increasing, simply extending or modifying the cooling gallery configuration may be insufficient when power rating is above a certain level. The nanofluid with better heat transfer capacity may become a more appropriate option to improve piston cooling performance.

A contribution to film coefficient estimation in piston cooling galleries
Experimental Thermal and Fluid Science, 2010The need to reduce fuel consumption and exhaust emissions in internal combustion engines has been drastically increased during last years. One of the most important processes affecting these parameters is heat transfer from the in-cylinder gas to the surrounding walls, as this mechanism has a direct influence on the combustion process.

The Effects of the Cooling Gallery Position on the Piston Temperature Field and Thermal Stress
Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2010The effects of cooling gallery position on the piston temperature field and thermal stress are studied. A finite element model of 1015 engine piston is developed using Pro/E software and finite element analyses are achieved through ANSYS code. Numerical simulations are performed to find the temperature and thermal stress change rules with regard to the

Computational modelling of convective heat transfer in a simulated engine cooling gallery
Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part D: Journal of Automobile Engineering, 2007Experimental data from internal combustion (IC) engines suggests that the use of proprietary computational fluid dynamics (CFD) codes for the prediction of coolant-side heat transfer within IC engine coolant jackets often results in underprediction of the convective heat transfer coefficient.
