Silicon nanocavity light emitters at 1.3-1.5 µm wavelength
Silicon Photonics has been a major success story in the last decade, with many photonic devices having been successfully demonstrated. The only missing component is the light source, however, as making an efficient light source in silicon is challenging ...

Transition metal oxy/carbo‐nitrides show great promise as catalysts for sustainable processes. A Mn‐Mo mixed‐metal oxynitride attains remarkable performance for the direct synthesis of acetonitrile, an important commodity chemical, via sequential C─N and C─C coupling from syngas (C1) and ammonia (N1) feedstocks.

Unexpected changes in source apportioned results derived from different ambient VOC metrics
Although most source apportionments of VOCs use mixing ratios, about 23 % of published studies use mass concentrations. Thus, systematically exploring the changes in VOC source apportioned results caused by metric differences is important to assess the ...

Welfare maximizing emission permit allocations under constraints. [PDF]
This paper examines equity and efficiency properties of voluntary international environmental agreements. A classical welfare economics framework is used while focusing on one particular instrument, i.e. emissions trading.

The water permeability of amorphous carbon dots (CDs) is demonstrated by investigating their plasticization. Novel polyamide‐based and amorphous nanoparticles are synthesized by controlling their inner packing density. Water plasticization is evidenced by the decrease of the CDs glass transition temperature with increasing the hydration degree.

Multiphoton emission of x-rays from cooperative resonant nuclei
The advent of x-ray free electron lasers (XFELs) has opened the door to exploring the x-ray-nuclei interaction in the multiexcitation regime. Here, we show the dependence of emission properties of x-ray photons from an ensemble of identical resonant ...

Drawing inspiration from the layered hard‐soft architecture found in sea sponges, this work establishes a new framework for architected cementitious composites (ACC) through multi‐material additive manufacturing (MMAM) process. The integration of mortar and elastomer phases into layered architectures enables synergistic toughening mechanisms, including
