Network Experimentation for Cooperative Localization

IEEE Journal on Selected Areas in Communications, 2012
This paper introduces the notion of network experimentation and proposes an experimentation methodology particularly suited for cooperative wireless networks. Based on this methodology we performed extensive measurement campaigns and compare various cooperative localization techniques under a common setting.

Information Coupling in Cooperative Localization

IEEE Communications Letters, 2011
Cooperative network localization with high-accuracy and environment-independent reliability will enable a myriad of important applications. However, distributed implementations of cooperative algorithms currently do not account for the correlation of inferred nodes' positions.

Cooperation and the Globalization-Localization Dilemmas

Complex Systems, 2022
Evolution of cooperation among self-interested agents is revisited in this paper in the context of globalization and localization. A globalized society is characterized by disentrenchment—or routine interactions between strangers across subcultures. Such interactions are rich in novelty, but also have high levels of distrust and insecurity. A localized

Cooperative Perception and Localization for Cooperative Driving

2020 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation (ICRA), 2020
Fully autonomous vehicles are expected to share the road with less advanced vehicles for a significant period of time. Furthermore, an increasing number of vehicles on the road are equipped with a variety of low-fidelity sensors which provide some perception and localization data, but not at a high enough quality for full autonomy.

Distributed Cooperative Localization

Journal of Information Technology Research, 2013
Localization for mobile platforms, in indoor scenarios, represents a cornerstone achievement to effective develop service and field robots able to safely cooperate. This paper proposes a methodology to achieve such a result by applying a completely decentralized and distributed algorithm.

Cooperative Localization for the Internet of Things

2021 16th Annual Conference on Wireless On-demand Network Systems and Services Conference (WONS), 2021
The internet of things (IoT) currently has a large range of applications, from wearable to smart cities. Many of these applications require that the nodes inside the networks know their relative or absolute position. To this end, multiple positioning methods can be applied, among such methods are Global Positioning Systems (GPS) or methods that employ ...

Least Square Cooperative Localization

IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, 2015
Location awareness is becoming essential for emerging wireless applications where most network activities require the location information of network nodes, e.g., routing between nodes in ad-hoc sensor networks, positioning vehicles on the road, or tracking targets in underwater acoustic sensor networks. In particular, cooperation among nodes is highly

Probabilistic Cooperative Target Localization

IEEE Transactions on Automation Science and Engineering, 2015
This work addresses the problem of localizing a ground target observed by multiple heterogeneous unmanned vehicles. Specifically, the case of a team of unmanned aerial and ground vehicles is analyzed. Effective collaboration between unmanned aerial and ground vehicles can utilize the strengths of both platforms while mediating their individual ...

Cooperative concurrent mapping and localization

Proceedings 2002 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation (Cat. No.02CH37292), 2003
Autonomous vehicles require the ability to build maps of an unknown environment while concurrently using these maps for navigation. Current algorithms for this concurrent mapping and localization (CML) problem have been implemented for single vehicles, but do not account for extra positional information available when multiple vehicles operate ...

Cooperative multihop localization with privacy

2011 Conference Record of the Forty Fifth Asilomar Conference on Signals, Systems and Computers (ASILOMAR), 2011
We introduce a cooperative algorithm for self and target network localization with privacy. The algorithm differs form other cooperative localization algorithms in which it does not require nodes to disclose their location or even to measure (or share) their mutual distances.
